it's not TDs since he rarely got the ball on the goal line, it's the other 3d and 4th and 1s he always converted. He was great at that, but if that's all he was good for at this point, I can see the wisdom in letting him go. We should be able to pick up 1 yard other ways/with other players.
yeah imo the saints shouldn't have even had that play, I dont believe that Hawk did anything wrong.
"It's been fun to get the reaction of visiting coaches to the color of their locker room. Most don't notice it, but those that do are in trouble. . . . When I talk to an opposing coach before a game and he mentions the pink walls, I know I've got him. I can't recall a coach who has stirred up a fuss about the color and then beat us.” Hayden Fry

RESPONSE: Yeah, he only scored one touchdown all of last year.
But guess what?????? Ricky Williams only scored three!
The fact and the point remains that both in those short yardage situations and (I beg to differ) in the SHORT YARDAGE GOAL LINE SITUATIONS, he was a valuable asset.
And even if he wasn't used or even useful on the goal line, how do you estimate the value of making a 4th and short and keeping a drive alive????

??
If you are saying that not having a Polite, they should have run an option, I agree with you.
I get your point about 4th and 1s generally about keeping drives alive, I was just pointing out that we almost never gave polite the ball on the goal line, which was the basis of your analogy to the saints game last night. If we struggle converting 3d and 4th and 1s anywhere on the field this season, then it will have been a mistake to let polite go.
Cowboys could've used A Polite last night. Bart Scott wouldn't have been able to stop him from converting that crucial 3rd and 1 and would've gone on to win the game.
