Matter of fact it is down right awful, these linemen are bust or no longer in the league. Jake Long by far was the best Offensive linemen
out of all of these Drafts. What's your Thoughts? ps, doug free is ok? I guess.

spending a 3, 4, and 6th rounder in 3 years on OGs, none of whom will end up having lasted 2 years with the team, is downright pathetic. We still have nothing at the guard position, which is supposed to be one of the easiest to fill.

wow....that is depressing!

I think they need to put Vernon Carey back at RT and figure out a RG from the rest of them.

They claim that thomas couldn't pick up the system quick enough, but i also heard that he was on the hot seat.

the line should be long, pouncey on left side and incognito and carey on the right side and sign o'hara for center or bring back joe berger

whatever they do please do not pick up gurode from dallas he is horrible

Did you just say or to bring back Joe Berger at center? I was following your plan until that, after hearing that I have to question it all... Berger was probably just about the worst center in the league last year

If you need a good defensive player...Parcels and Ireland are your guys....offense...forget it!

Although not bad with WRs.

I'd be ok moving Carey back to RT and putting Berger at RG.

Thomas came in as a rookie. Took the starting job on the 3rd day of camp. Played the first game on a broken ankle. All the Redskins d-line said the kid had a great future. Came in the second year bust his ass and started again. Whenever Thomas got on his man he pushed him back. They gained yards when he was in the game. What I read and heard was the staff wanted more consistency from him but the guy was still young. Do not cut someone if you do not have someone better. Phins coaching staff screwed up on this guy.

What I don't get is, if he was really that good, shouldn't he be starting now? He's a backup OG for the Lions. Did Sparano ruin him?

Same goes for Jimmy Johnson. We've had LOTS of trouble drafting offense for a while.

I have been happy with our draft picks. Nobody is draft perfect. Who would you want over Ireland/Parcells?

I think most teams have more busts on offense then defense..

Montequi-
I could live with Berger at guard, he was far better at guard then center but I by no means thought he played like a lock as our starting guard...
Carey's problem is the he is fat and out of shape, compared to how he played in his prime. I think they tried to move him to guard to hide his weight and shape problems, so I am not sure it is so easy as move him back... I want to see how Lydon Murtha plays at RT.. He has played LT for Jake Long all preseason, that means he is taking on the best pass rusher..
Pouncey is the center, they like his unique size and skills, at what was our worst position on a lousy line last year. The question marks are Murtha, Nate Garner, Incognito, Berger, Columbo. Out of that you will find the 2 starters at LG and RT. I would love Carey to drop 30lbs, hit the treadmill and play RT, but I dont think that is gonna happen.

IMO Carey has always been a lazy underachiever in relation to what he could have developed into.

Oddly enough, the only coach that could motivate him was Cam (who also recognized his talent). So this regime came in and sent him to RT and let him balloon because BIGGER is better…

Too bad Sparano isn’t an OL guru and master motivator – we could have gotten a lot more production out of Vernon’s skill set.

I think the only fair way begin to respond to these comments is to laugh..hahahahahahaha.lol.lol...
Then we can talk that Carey was drafted in 2004, and now we are in 2011.
Secondly Cam Cameron was a moron, Carey's worst year was probably the year Cam coached.. He didnt have remotely the feet to play LT, it was a horrible decision on Cams part, he only moved Carey to LT because he felt he had no other options. just for reference Carey's best year as a pro was actually Sparano first year as our coach, when he was smart enough to move him back to RT. Carey's problems like most large pro's is as he has gotten older he has added weight and slowed down, and has less stamina..

If you bring up that Cam was the only coach to motivate and recognize talent in Carey, you are just totally lost as to Vernon Carey, Cam Cameron, Tony Sparano and DOlphins football in general... lol. Sorry but that is all that can be deduced from your halfhearted comments aimed at attacking Sparano...lol

To hear the name cam cameron related to anything positive that had to do with this team when he was the coach sounds really weird to me.

He even sounded like an airhead when interviewed. LOST>

Cam didn't motivate Carey. It was Hudson Houck that was able to stabilize the line and make Carey look good in the process. Houck was the motivator, which is why Carey started gaining weight and losing interest when Houck was let go. The only reason he played well in '08 was so he could garner a fat contract the following year. After his contract was fat, he felt the need to make his body match. sad smiley

Offensive linemen go down hill fast at a certain point. Its almost over one season.

Our line gets a big upgrade as soon as Long steps on the field. It make the right side better bc Long can be left alone leavin a TE or RB to help out the RT with a chip when needed for quick LDEs.

Actually by statistics, Carey personally had a better year in 09 then 08... So why is that? His 2 best years were under Sparano by far. Last year was when his game and weight began to fall off.
And by the way do you realize how bad the Dallas offensive line has been behind your hero Oline coach... The only thing that followed Hudson from Miami to dallas was losing and bad oline play... We had the worst oline in football under him.. And Dallas had one of the worst Olines in football last year... I like him, I know he is a legend but I think he hasnt been very good in years...

Both great points, especially about the left side not needing much help and the help the right side or interior pass blocking can get from a TE or RB.. But It will not do much for run blocking, no? WHich is critical as well for our success. We need to be able to run the ball when we have to, if you cant it is hard to go far against the good teams...

Very true but Columbo is known to be a better run blocker. Jury still out on Carey at RG.

Don't know if that means Columbo is actually a good run blocker. Anyone have PFF grades on him compared to say...Carey at RT?

No, i don't want Joe berger back , i was just saying that if you put jake, pouncey on the left side with incognito and carey on the right side

who can you find to put at center right now other than sorry ass Joe Berger.

Because if you keep the line the way it is now, it is a receipt for disaster.

100% agree Crowder, I keep reading how great Houck was and I don't remember it that way at all. Revisionist history at its finest

Our defense is looking great, its starting to remind me of the Jimmy Johnson Dolphins. Not a bad thing..........Maybe they need to look outside the box and get a few people to help advise on Offense in the draft. A consultant.

The only similarity to JJ's defense is the fact that they are really good. It helps to have a ton of talent. JJ's offense was just as vanilla as his offense, but his defensive drafts were really good. Nolan's offense is much more dynamic and unpredictable.
