This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
He's had legal/behavioral problems so he's not the best person to mentor--at least not off the field. The teams he played for were pretty pathetic so he'd didn't do much for them (circumstances). This could be a great opportunity for him and the Dolphins.
Once again this organization goes out and makes ANOTHER stupid and unproductive move!!! Are you kidding me L.Johnson WTF? We could have kept Ronnie or Ricky but we let them go to sign a woman beater who hasnt done ANYTHING in 2yrs!! I cant understand why they do the things they do, I really feel Ross has told Sparano and Ireland dont worry about anything that they will have there jobs next year NO MATTER WHAT!!!
Usually a back-up running back has to play on special teams. If he were to make the team, I find it hard to believe that a back of his age can do that. Hopefully he has something left in the tank and can, at least, provide us with a tough goaline back.
IF the coaches like him more then Sheets, then it was a decent move... I also hear there was a connection between Penn state and larry johnson and our RB coach Hixon and Penn State... they have some type of prior relationship and what help lead to the signing...

I know I'm probably over-reacting but I can't see how this guy is better than Kory Sheets. I guess we'll see at the next exhibition game.
what is the facsination with bringing in guys our coaches have coached before. LJ has a massive body of work and baggage in the NFL, the fact that our RB coach coached him a million years ago in college shouldn't have played a factor at all. I find this signing very odd.
Agreed! What impact players do we have on this team that one of our coaches coached previously? I don't consider Fasano an impact player. Maybe back in '08, but not now. Otherwise, who? Columbo??? Remember Ayodele? How did THAT work out for us??!!
I can see bringing in folks like that in year 1 of the new regiem--the players know the routine and can lead by example. but in year 4 it's time to lose that crutch. it just seems lazy to me---easier to sign someone you know from years ago then do due dilligence on someone new
I think this is much ado about nothing. Kory Sheets hadn't shown much and was cut. No big deal. Johnson is signed for peanuts and if he shows something, he sticks. It's more likely that the guy is spent and never makes it to game 1. I can't see anything more to it.

Exactly. Not Ronnie, he is still looking for money and not a Big bruising up the middle kind of guy, But why not Ricky? He was a leader in the Locker room and still a frigging bull. I'm not sure this is an upgrade over Ricky Williams who could be had year to year , for not alot of $$$. But...better then Sheets for sure. He sheet the bed this preseason.
both our top 2 backs are questions, thomas b/c he is a rookie and bush b/c he's always hurt. so I think we do need a legit back to fill the role LJ was brought in to play. I just question whether he was the best guy to bring in and whether he's got anything left. when RBs go downhill, they do so in a hurry---see Shaun Alexander. I think LJ is right there with him
They need another speed back with good hands. They are going to add this Reggie Bush dimension to the offense, with a guy who can get to the edge, and who is a big threat in the passing game. And if he gets hurt, you will totally lose that dimension without adding a guy with skills more like Bush.
