I knew Gholston was going to be a bust. Beware the 1-year, workout wonder. Mallet, on the other hand, had years of success as a passer playing in the toughest college FB conference. Taking him in the 2d would have been a reasonable move. Taking gholston #1 overall would have been moronic.

Look, I am not saying there are not QB busts and that we passed on players I wanted who, in hindsight, it was good we didn't take (Brady Quinn). But I don't think you can say the FO made a good decision in not taking a guy based on the circular logic that (1) if we didn't take him, he mustn't have been any good, and (2) he wasn't one of the first 5 QBs taken so he wasn't worth taking anywhere.

And this is coming from someone who was happy when we drafted John Beck.

I just think that we thought the QB class was much weaker then others. SO many teams drafted out of need for QB more then the Quality IMO.
Newton, Locker, Gabbert and Ponder were all gone by the time we picked 15. Kapernick was gone by our 2nd pick. SO the only QB that was available to pick there was Mallett. They didnt pull the trigger, so I am going to wait and see. There was alot of talk we liked Ponder if he fell... It just didnt work out and I am glad we didnt overpay, when was the last time there were 5 franchise QB's in one draft or even 3... Not so often, once every 20 years...
I think if we really want a QB, next year, we should trade a top defensive player and draft pick, to get as close to pick of the litter, if not, get another pick of the litter at another position, I am not a big fan of leftovers unless you have an undying conviction for the player...
I understand your passion towards solving the QB issues in Miami, I want a QB for the future as much as you, I have just seen us make many missteps trying to find one through the years, and dont want to make another one. I like Matt Moores chances better then most of the guys that were drafted. SO i think in Henne and Moore we have 2 maybes, I bet out of the top 5 drafted you are only going to get 2 or 3 maybes...
I also believe the majority of QB's dont come into their own for 3-5 years. So lets see... Hell, SHanahan is claiming Beck is some franchise QB after 4 or 5 years now... not sure i belive it but, I like our team... I just want the line to play better at guard and tackle. Long and Pouncey will be the anchors..

What do you think, Peter Kings story about Mallett would be this week.... Oh i forgot he already annointed him the next big thing in football that will make the Dolphins look foolish... Just a bunch of hot air at this point
