a fair trade would be our #15 pick for 2 second rounders, one in the top 5 and one in the top 15, and a little bit more. Denver has the #4 and #14 picks picks in the 2d. Would you deal #15 for those 2 2d rounders (one of which is our old one) and another pick? Den doesn't have a 4th rounder so it would need to be something else. I think I might make a trade like that this year.
This is not implausible---Den needs help on the DL and a good DL will fall to 15 for sure.....
I prefer both the NE and NO scenarios too. At 24 we could get pretty much the same guy we could get at 15 and end up with 3 third rounders, 2 of which we could package for a #2. The deal with NE enables us to take a QB in the 2d if we wanted (there will be a run in the top 5 of the 2d I think), but I really don't want ANOTHER 2d round QB, plus trading with NE is pretty distasteful
Long was signed days, not weeks, before the draft. He was the "safe" pick--pretty much a sure thing. By most accounts Ryan was no sure thing---though obviously the upside to the team is better if you hit a homerun with a QB instead of a LT.
My whole point to my original point was that obviously Long was gonna be the pick, but many pundits, Mike Mayock off the top of my head was *TOTALLY* against the pick of Long over Ryan.
I was only pointing out that the pick we all think it should be, or we want... doesnt always turn out to be the actual pick.
We all want Mallett, I included, but it probably is a slim chance he actually will be the pick.
Chances are we take and O-lineman, defense, or trade down before we take a QB.

We have a great need for a QB but also have a great need for a 2nd round pick. The draft will prob have more value in picks 20 to 28 than it does from 10 to 15.
Perfect case scenario would involve a trade down for Mallet and a 2nd round pick to grab an O lineman.
Grab DJ Williams TE from Arkansas in the 3rd (familiar target for Mallet) and a speedy RB in the 4th.
how about
we trade 15 and our 5th to Denver for their 2 #2s (#4 and #14) and their #3 (#3).
then we trade the higher #2 and lower #3 (our own) into the back of the 1st and take Mallet.
so we end up with Mallet
our original #2
the #3 pick in the 3d
with those picks we take best avail WR, OL, or RB.
I don't like wezneiwski...word is he is weak in lower body and will need time to develop physically....also don't like leshoure as he is not as good as mendenhall and RM isn't that great to begin with. Good but not great.
I would rather take a speedy rb later who is a cop back...we could then add a fa as the thunder or use hilliard in a committee.
