These NFL players should be hired to do construction work for just a month and be paid 9.50 an hour 12 hours a day and see how they like it.

NFL players have it too good.

But you know like they say.....You dont know what you had until you lost it. Or lost everything.

They work 6 month out of the year get like 4 month vacation get paid million and are still complaining.

RESPONSE: I must have overlooked this. You can't even agree with someone without insulting them at the same time.

My bad. Eventually, when one does nothing but posts attacks, you eventually get sucked in to responding. The post to which I responded is a perfect example, as can be seen.

Lets get this deal done NOW boys. I'm sick of baseball ALREADY (and that's only PARTLY because the Sox have a perfect record..perfectly sucky).

The judge has already hinted at sending them to arbitration and I can't believe I'm saying this (as I"m no drafnik) but I can't wait to be talking about the draft instead of the lockout/decertifying BS.

so bc you have a crap job with no leverage the players have to get screwed over. sorry to break it to you but you are fungible. they could get someone else to do your job. you can't grab someone else off the street to fill payton manning's job. sorry this is the truth. and everyone who wants to compare themselves to these guys needs to wake up and think a little harder.

Also, I'm pretty sure in your job treasurecoast, you're not the worker AND the product being sold. The sooner everyone stops comparing their job to pro football players the better.

Very True. , while I don't believe I'm that replacable......(hey I have Pride!) I still think my argument holds merit. While Peyton Manning is a great QB, probably the best today, there is a limit to his value. And the whole team is not made up of Peyton Mannings. Plenty of chain mover guys would much smaller salaries.

I am a small guy who feels very lucky to be employed during what is probably the greatest economic crisis this country has seen in almost a century. You have Cops, firemen, and teachers being stripped of bargaining rights and told to take huge pay cuts and layoffs. You have the federal goverment on the verge of shutting down. And these Mother Fers want to complain about taking part of a Billion $$ share? NOW is not the time to pull this crap. Sign a 3 year deal and revisit it in 2014.

These Players are Greedy. End of story. the employer has the right , as did mine, to reach back into my pocket and take back a little during these times. I didn't complain when I got raises steadily throught out the last decade. This is the reality of the situation. the statdiums and the morgage on it is not worth what is was 3 yrs ago just like my home and my bosses home.

This is not the time for this shit. Plain and simple. Roll up your sleeves like the rest of us.....you know the ones that pay for tickets , merchadise, and cable packages.

Treasure, the owners entered into a revenue sharing agreement with the players, if they're having a hard time making it then open up the books and proove it. Simple. They made 9 billion in revenue last year, they take 1 billion off the top before the 58/42% split......ONE BILLION! Highly doubt they're struggling.

Also if I thought for a minute that they'd roll back ticket prices 10 years, i'd be right there with ya, contrary to crowders beliefs, that's never happening.

The players have offered to a 50/50 split and a bump up on the 1 bil off the top (phinsfan has a better understanding of the numbers then me), sounds fair to me, sign the deal and revisit it in 2014.

I never made the argument that they're Billionaires, my argument is that they signed into a revenue sharing agreement with the players in 2006, honor it or prove you're losing money.

Just tell the players to agree with the owners and move on.

Anyway you put it the players are still gonna get paid 10 times more than a doctor who saves lives and job is 1000 times more important than a football player.

NFL players got it too good.

And about the 2 a day practices. Come on they are pro athletes....And how many hours do they work in the 2 practices..6 -7 hours a day?
Please. They still got it too good.

I don't understand why people who are more like the players than owners (in terms of privilege, income, being an "employee" and not an "employer"winking smiley side so strongly with the owners. you feel your boss has the right to do whatever the hell he wants because he's your boss? Part of it I think is jealousy--in that people are jealous that someone lucked into god-given athetic ability and get to live the life everyones dreamed of. We'd all like to trade places with the players if given the opportunity and we would do it for less money (which is still way more money than most of us make).
I am not saying the players are right and the owners are wrong---both seem to be a little of both. But the majority of people here seem take a strong pro-owner attitude which seems kind of odd

Thank you for intelligently giving me your responses unlike that "other poster" that Just can't make a point without including a Personal attack.Thank you for acknowleging that and calling him out for inflamatory remarks. 'm afraid he may be due another one or possibily more though.

You make some really good points that I didn't know existed.

I know the Owners went back before the lockout went official to try and concede some issues , But isn't it true that the Owners addmitted they gave too much back in 2006 ? But they wanted to avoid a lockout so they gave in? Times have changed since then. Whole banks have collasped. Owners have Lost Billions. Open the books? This isn't a public office. Maybe the packers are, but why should an owner have to show anything to run his buisness? Just because your a Billioniare you lose your rights and deserve to get extorted?

Treasurcoast, the 1 thing you and most others keep forgetting is that the owners entered into a "Revenue Sharing" agreement with the players, it'd be different if that was never the case, but it's not.

Which, in turn, proves the pertinency of my point above that "The response of the players seems to be, 'You want me to give MORE back than even, I'm offering? Then show me your books.' This says in essence, 'I don't trust that the money is really going to something that in the long run will benefit us all. I think the money is just going into your pockets and if that is true, then why should money come from my pocket and go into yours?'"

Or, as PhinFans2, put it "You are asking the players to give back more money than they have already offered to give back. Isn't it absurd to think you can do that without proving to them that you need this, not that you just want it?"

The owners are rich and the players are rich. Good, who cares.......I just wish they would stop bytching about it and just play football and give us fans a show.

Some people do not have many diversions of hobbies and football is one of the the few things they enjoy.

Sundays are very enjoyable when there is football....It would be a shame to be without football for a year.

Your right that sounds very fair. But thats not the way it was presented IMO. Basically they are telling them, this is a buisness. This is what I'm willing to pay as an employer. If you do not wish to take that then there is the door. The Owners are asking for anything , they are simly offering less. Thats my take on it anyway , but you did raise some points that i didn't catch before. The Owners NEVER should have Voided the old contract during these times. Leave it be. While I believe they are within their rights , they are the ones that got this ball rolling aren't they? Good point made.

I guess it depends what your agenda here is, I just really Love the Miami Dolphins and HATE the fing Jets. I love to discuss them and if you say something that makes a ton of sense, I'll say so.
