What we have with Thigpen is a unproven commodity.
I'm not the guy INSTANTLY denouncing him, before giving him a full season to start.
YOU and other's are the one's who denounce him, when the only game he started for our team he put up numbers equal or better than Henne does on a regular basis, with much more talent around him.
I watch what Thigpen does, I watch how Henne react's and what he does.
I see ALOT more upside in Thigpen than in Henne.
Again all you basher's have zero credit.
NONE you use a HORRIBLE KC team, in what his rookie, second year playing?
One game against the NFC NORTH CHAMPIONS!! WITH A COMPLETLEY DEVASTATED O-LINE.
Lol and I'm the one who has the problems.
No sir you amongst others are the one's being ney-sayers about this opinion.
Answer me this. I believe I read that you want to lose the Pats game, along the lines dolfan1 stated, to move up in the draft? But you're wanting to start a better QB? Wouldn't that hurt your first position?
Also, you're taking a lot of things on assumption. I never said Thigpen is better or worse than Henne. The only thing I have stated is that I see no point in starting him for one game when I do not believe he is the long term answer to our QB problems. I want us to have a new coach next year that drafts(or possibly signs)his guy.
I want to see what he can do in a hostile environment against a superior team in a meaningless game.
Thats why I want him to start with a healthy team.
I want to see him play, I want him to play well, I want a franchize QB.
I NEED MORE TAPE ON THIGPEN!!!1
I don't think we have seen his best, and he hasnt had the fair chance to showcase thats why I want to see him play next week.
Henne we all know what he will give us, and its boring blan game losing BS, I want to see a guy come in and take this offense in stride.
I believe Thigpen could. If Marshall would have caught the ball more, and not been pentalized I could almost Guarantee Thigpen would have had at least one TD.
Not to mention what 3 4 snaps where on the ground where he had to run around to avoid one of what 6 7 sacks, not including QB PRESSURES AND HITS, because again his O-line was non exsistant?
Come on you really not intregued with what he might be able to do??
Also, unless you're willing to completely change your offensive mentality that Miami has had the entire year(power sets with max protection) you will NOT see what Thigpen's potential is. You need a different OC to get that.
Mia1: You want an audition from Thigpen. I get it. That's fine by me. What I've been trying to tell you is that you will not get a fair assessment of his ability when you have the coaches that we have and the mindset that they bring to our offense and how it's structured. He won't get a fair shake. By the time a new coach is brought in to the Offensive Coordinator position, we will most likely have a new head coach and at that point, Thigpen's time to show he's the starter might be gone.
It's not fair, it may be a waste of talent, but as some are fond of saying on this board, I'm simply looking at the situation with some "realism".
I agree with that stance, but my point was I think he has the talent, just been giving some crappy circumstances.
Sorry but the way you where pointing out your case was like he sucks, and I am just trying to tell everyone you can't really evaluate that yet, because of where and what he has had to deal with, and the little to no tape on the guy with a legit team.
Why is it silly? With the correct personnell I think he can do it.
Your right it's pre-mature, but I think he is better than HENNE, and well what would our record be this year if we had slightly better QB play?
I believe we would be 9-6 right now if Thigpen would have started and remained the starter after Thursday's night game, comming into a must win at NE, and I believe he could pull that off, entrenching himself as the future starter of this team, HOWEVER Sparano and company well we all went down in flames with the Henneburg lol.....

I believe Henne could too, with the correct personnel. Give either a monster O-Line, top 3 RB in the league, pro-bowl TE, and a solid WR corp, and either could take us all the way. Problem is, we're not going to get all that.

Ok he would have us at 9-6 with our current personnell.
I think that Thigpen reminds me of Brett Favre, and to be fair because of the limited info on Thigpen I will use the college stats, and first year starting second season for both, NOT including circumstances of players time period's divisions, and other conferance teams strength of scheduals, and coaching.
WHICH ONE REALLY NEEDS TO BUT IM NOT INVESTING THAT much time on ALL that info.
Brett Favres second year in league first starting and started 13 games played in 15.
1992 GB
15 games played, started 13. 302 471 64.1 completion 3,227 yards. 18 TD's, and 13 INT's. YPA was 6.9 YPG was average 215.1 TD percentage 3.8% INT percentage 2.8% a game. QB rating 85.3. 8 wins 5 loss's. Rushing attempts 47 for 198 yards with 4.2 per attempt 1 TD.
Thigpens first year starting on a much worse KC team.
14 games played 11 started 420 attempts 230 completed 54.8 2608 yards 6.2 per completion 18 TD 12 INT 76.0 rating 62 rushing attempts 386 yards 6.2 YPA 3 td's.
Thigpens college numbers, at a new crappy school!!
Statistics as of the end of Thigpen's collegiate career (2006).
Year Passing Rushing
Comp Att Yards TDs Int Att Yds Avg TD
2003 58 136 705 5 4 81 282 3.5 3
2004 78 158 1,008 8 4 55 251 4.6 1
2005 133 246 1,589 11 6 97 437 4.5 4
2006 217 339 3,296 29 11 113 656 5.8 5
Totals 486 879 6,598 53 28 346 1,626 4.6 13
BRETT FAVRES COLLEGE NUMBERS!!
Year Passing Rushing
1,234 Pass Attempts
656 Completions
53.2% Comp%
8,193 Yards Passing
55 Touchdowns
35 Interceptions
Favre had 55 td's. 35 ints, Thigpen had 53 TD's, and 28 INT. plus he ran more.
Favres had Sharpe, playing in a weak division, in a time when running was more dominate than passing. I.E alot more 4-3 defense's than 3-4.
Pretty sure Thigpen got sacked alot more as well, I will be looking up the sack totals.
Ok Favre sacked 34 times 12 fumbles, Thigpen 33 times 7 fumbles.

Oh well I think he is our best option to start a QB next season, instead of waisting what little picks and or players to acquire a Top Tier QB this draft.
I would say let him start next season all season, like Henne, and this offseason acquire Jackson, and draft heavy O-lineman.
I can't see any other alternatives that could be more benificial in this offseason.
I belive that is our best option, and I'm going to stick by my gun's baby.
You do what you gotta do, I'm good.

The only folks who are opposed to Thigpen having an audition vs the Patriots (such as it would be) are those who are deathly afraid that he will have a good game and make Henne look like even more of a loser.
