1. On the fact Matt Ryan will never be a Dolphin, so just move on. No need to keep talking about it. We drafted Jake Long who is on pace to be a Hall of Fame player in his on right, so lets move on. If QB still needs to be addressed, then lets address it.
But we have one position that does NOT need to be addressed, and that is Left Tackle....thanks to the best one in the game.
The fact Ryan is NOT here is the point. It's the DECISION that matters in the present sense because the SAME regime that made that decision is STILL in power. So let’s “move on” to that, shall we?
Anyone remember Bobby Douglas? The fact Henne has a "strong arm" is about as compelling as Jamarcus Russell's CANNON. The list of big-armed NFL QB failures is a mile long. And beyond that, Henne has ZERO touch and can’t arc a pass to save his life. IMO that’s also about how “good” a QB’s arm is. Not just throwing high velocity balls that tend to bounce off players and get intercepted.
Brees was injured (and his longterm viability was in serious question, at least by some including Saban) and San Diego had drafted Rivers who turned out to be pretty good as well.
The fact Brees got healthy and has stayed healthy is really GOOD LUCK for Norleans. On the other hand Culpepper was BAD LUCK.

Dude come on, Henne has thrown some unbelieavable arc pass to Marshall, Hartline, Bess and Fasano. That knock is not fair. Saying Henne is inconsistent is fair, saying the offense has had a tough time is fair, and lacked an identity is fair, but saying he cant throw an arc pass to save his life is just a lie. You dont have to go overboard making up lies about the guy because you are happy he is on the bench. I dont think why you claim Henne was benched is the reason, so attacking his football abilities, I just dont get. I think it is mental, and has to do with leadership. I am excited to see what Pennington does for us, in finding an indetity and rhytmn for the offense as well as I look forward to the future with Henne. Sorry you dont.
I am also extremely happy to have the best left tackle in the game on our team, those guys dont grow on trees. THe sky is not falling, this team will get it together. I mean look at the collpase of the Vikings and Cowboys. Was it all Romo's fault they lost.
Football is a team game, and while I think Henne has the most potential, I understand the the coaches decision, that Pennington with his knowledge and experience makes us a better team at this point. Sparano wants a chance to succeed and see this thing through and he believes Pennington is the best guy at this point for him to be able to accomplish his goals.
You want to see "arc" check out Brady, or Manning, or even Rivers or Brees, and there are a number of others...
IMO Henne is pretty much a one trick pony right now -- and after that soft arc "pass" flopped in the direction of Fasano in the end zone I think the kid is soft upstairs and can't produce when it matters. Hopefully I’m wrong.
Yea I agree its 95% or more mental -- that's the "it" factor and that's what's so hard to project in the NFL.
Maybe the benching gets Hennes head screwed on right but the kid is still playing a lot like he did in college -- and he had VERY obvious issues with his game when projected as a Pro.
The Michigan faithful were never in love with him -- and he played there for 4 years so maybe they saw something? Whatever, I wish the kid the best but I'm not going to bury my head in the sand and expect him to turn into the player some "think" he might be.
If it looks like a skunk and smells like a skunk it's probably a skunk. But more important than that -- what are the consequences to this regime for the "situation" we're in? We can keep Henne around and cross our fingers he'll eventually develop, but we need a more competent staff that can identify QB talent and draft accordingly.
Based on what we’ve done at the QB position, the MOST critical by a wide margin, I’m not convinced Ireland is the answer. Hopefully he “develops” as well and learns from his obvious blunders…

RESPONSE: Yeah, but Russell was missing his passes in Oakland. They weren't bouncing off of players.
Hell, a receiver in the NFL is a millionaire based on a contract for him to catch the ball. If the ball is uncatchable, that's one thing. Jamarcus's balls were no where near the receiver.
This is the FIRST TIME IN HISTORY, I have ever heard anyone try to blame the quarterback for a receiver not being able to catch a ball that is too hot.
Think I'm wrong? Then explain to me why DAN MARINO threw a faster ball than Henne, yet he is probably near the top for all time completions?
That's CRAZY!!! A quarterback is bad for throwing a ball so hot the receivers can't catch it!!!!
I mean, its one thing if the receiver is only a foot away and the QB fires it. That's not what's happening with Henne and the receivers. The ball travels fifteen yard and these pansies, (with the exception of Marshall) can't catch it.
Unless there is a wholesale change in the front office, I dont see us taking a QB early next year (remember we dont have a 2nd rnder). I guess if someone blew us away with a trade offer for Henne, maybe (I dont think nor do I want that to happen though). Who's some of the top flight RB's we might be looking at in the 1st rnd next year?

It's going to depend on what we do in free agency or trades, as well as who our OC is. With the prospect of losing BOTH Ronnie and Ricky, there's no doubt we will sign FA RB in the offseason. As for QB, if Penny does well, and we lose our minds and keep Henning, I think there's a strong chance we trade Henne for what we can get, pick up another vet QB, and hang our hopes on Penny once again.
We don't need to draft a quarterback...if we take a developmental guy in the later rounds then I'm OK with that but we need.
1. WR...but has to be a Brandon Marshall type guy that has 4.4 speed.
2. RB...must be physical, fast and have some moves too.
3. TE...must be physical, fast, and a great route runner with great hands.
4. OG...
5. LB...must be a standout guy and a playmaker.
6. S...must be a playmaker that can catch and a sure tackler.
Beyond that we need a lot of QUALITY special teams help and depth.
Henne needs to be playing and learning...not sitting on the bench. If it's a short term benching to jog him a little then OK. But long term, he needs to be playing or he won't get any better and he needs more help around him...we don't have enough speed at the moment and it's hurting us quite a bit on offense.
> The issue I have with this regime (besides the obvious blunder of not taking Ryan) is the lackadaisical way the have addressed the position via the draft. They've taken Henne and that’s it! Pat White was such a bad pick (for whatever position they projected him???) it doesn't even remotely matter.
The Dolphins picked Pat White to play QB. Three drafts, two high picks on QBs.
They’ve also brought in other QBs too. They have not been “lackadaisical.” They’ve even gone so far as to bench Henne. Clearly, they are not satisfied.
