OK we're out of the playoffs and look to be picking anywhere from 16-20.
What are out biggest needs and who do we take? I'm not as up on college FB as most of you guys and don't really learn about the top guys till all the draft info comes out. But I know some of you folks really know your stuff so I'm interested in your thoughts.
personally, I rank our needs in this order: LB, WR, S, RB, OG
I say take best available WR or LB, but if we took a stud S or OL if he fell to us I wouldn't be upset. My preference would be to trade for or sign a FA WR since it usually takes a while for a WR to make an impact.
Shore up the D line from a pass rush perspective (are wake Merling the answer?) and get more pressure on the QB and that makes the secondary better. get a big playmaking WR threat (Benn. Gilyard, or tate?) makes our offense better so those should be the priorities
Here's how I see our team going into 2010 right now:
QB- Good
RB- Good
OL- Decent
WR- Average- Weak
TE- Average
DL- Good
LB- Weak
CB- Excellent
S- Weak
Need a safety for sure, problem is you can't expect to plug in a Rookie at the Safety position and expect him to be good right out of the gate. Takes 2-3 years to develop the skills needed to be a Safety at the NFL level.
LB is also a need but I suspect we will have addition by subtraction when we get rid of Porter.
We absolutelty have to become more explosive on offense to better compete with the elite teams. We have to find a stud DT that can dominate the LOS and anchor the run D. LB's are a high priority because we simply need more guys that actually make plays instead of waiting for the plays to come to them. CB is a need because once we get past Davis and Smith there is no one thats really good. Saftey is the same once you get past Bell, the OL needs depth and younger players to groom and our top RB's are getting older and/or hurt.
an wxplosive and physical WR is my biggest concern right now and beyond that defense, defense, defense.
Daytona, you are assuming that Allen will be able to come back healthy and can still play at an accepatble level and even if it does we still need to draft a CB to add youth speed and depth the the secondary.

Uh huh. Because we all know that boring players aren't what we want, right? How about signing T.O. next time he's available? He's definitely not boring.

I think you could also consider him as a candidate at free safety if he's not up to par as a CB coming off the injury. He'd certainly bring better ball skills than Wilson.

Yep! He made Fasano look like a pro bowler last year (being an added threat when we played 2 TEs and changing it up with his different style of play), and he made a number of key plays himself as well.

Moley, your writing looks exactly like a guy we had on here a month or so ago....ahem....Thunder. Not saying you are him, but your writing skills are eerily similiar.
