#1 would have been different. We'd have drafted Brees, but Wanny would have played Fiedler over him in his first season. The Brees would have come in in his 2nd year when Fiedler got hurt and been sacked a ton of times. I think it's inevitable Wanny would get canned, but not before Brees is either traded or allowed to become a UFA and sign with someone else.
#2 would have been different as well, because I don't think Saban would have stuck around regardless of how well the team played.
Either way we'd have a different coach and GM, but with #2 we'd be more likely to still have Brees today.
Where we get Brees in either option 1 or 2, but the caoching changes happen anyway, because we still would have had squat for a team around him, and he might have healed from all the bruses he would have gotten playing before we got the current regime and the #1 pick.
No QB including peyton mannign could have pulled this team out without a re-build of the OL and youth at defense secondary.
