So my question is, why didn't we draft Max Unger? He's a Center. He can play Center, Guard, it was well known before the draft of his ability to play more than one position. We all loved Unger, he's from the Pac10, clearly as good as Alex Mack coming out of college, and he was available! Wouldn't his impact on the offense be greater than Pat White? He would have been in on every play, and greatly helped the running game. What were they thinking???

Um i belive pat white can do more than a max unger. ALOT more since Pat White will most likely be in the shotgun making plays on the run.

Agree that we should have taken Unger over White. What we essentially have from White is a third string QB. He's not returning kicks, he's not playing WR, and he's never going to be Mr. Wildcat because he's too small to run between the tackles. We basically got a player we could have taken with a 5th round pick.

But VictoryGoga..um DolphinBoy..um whatever Thunder is calling himself these days think that Pat White is the greatest player to ever don a Phins uni - better than Marino and Zonk combined. So that explains why we have White.

Whoa i will slap you if you ever think i will put anyone over Marino. Pat White is going to be our 2nd string this year, is how i feel, and you know what, all you haters dont say a f'n word when he makes some sweet plays. Wont even give the man a chance. I get critized for my opinons, and so should you. Yeah i run my mouth about certain players, and usaly a wrong about some, but i have a good feelin about White. ALL im asking is dont be like me and pre judge, because trust me its embarrassing when your wrong. lets wait and see 5th week into the season.

I even saw Jake Long wiff on a block resulting in a run stuffed in the backfield.
It's way early, but I also thought our o-line looked pretty sloppy.

and why in the wide world of sports is it ok for football players to play on an uneven playing surface of dirt and grass but out of the question for baseball players to play on a grass infield?

Stupid! I can't wait until the Morons...I mean Marlins get the heck out!

Seems like some genious would have figured out how to lay an effective artificial turf down (baseball dirt are coverage only) for the preseason.

Yes we want real grass, yes there will be seam differences, but less so that the grass to mus differences i'd think.

I think its bad ass, because its what one of two fields left where the boys can rumble in the jungle lol. Everyone wants it gone, but when that day comes it will be a sad day. sad smiley

For clarity ... not wanting the grass to go, just to cover up the infield during the time the field is shared.

Then pull up the rug and go with the grass for the remainder of the FB season.

BTW got to r-watch the game this morning. Jake opend some big holes in this game and the running looked strong.

We'll get a good look at it tonight against Tampa, who has a pretty strong run defense.

Hope we see some passing too.

The starters should get a good workout today and rest most of the game next week.

Hopefully we play henne the entire second half.

Tampa has our number in pre season and its time we return the favor. Not that pre season matters anyway.

I remember a year where the chargers lost all 4 pre season games, then went on to the superbowl that year.

Guess we'll see.

Word is they are ranked 3rd so far in preseason play in run def with an avg 76 ypg.

As you noted, a completely different team this year. That is what is being said this year is their strong point, vs. passing they are getting killed.

Don't let that get in the way of disagreeing though, let's hope the FINS run game rolls.

I'd bet we'll see a lot more passing this week due to the need to settle the WR positions, weak pass defense, and not much attention to it last week.

I'm going to say that, the first and second qt, we will see alot of running to put us in a two miute drill with Penny, and we will prob pass in the third quarter alot to see how Penny reacts to half time adjustments.

You know what? I forgot they have Jim Bates as DC now...not that I think they will be that good in the first year but like you said, we will see in 3.5 hours!

Is this better play than what we already had? Really? For 30 million dollars?

Ok, I'm bumping up my Jake Grove post.

The 30 million dollar man.

The news leak from Smiley demands it. Grove continues to be a screw up and not play anywhere near the level we need him to play. Someone else even wrote a post a week ago that there are rumblings from the coaches that they are not happy with his performance. Who knows if that's true, but I know I'M not happy.

People want to get rid of meaningless preasons games, but imagine if that was the case, how many games into the regular season would Grove screw up before he finally settles down and earns his salary. Or, will he never step up.

I know that you can't afford to have a Center like this. So I don't know what the dolphins are going to do if this continues.
