JT Dominates Scrimmage

Reports are JT was a monster force in the scrimmage. I think Matt Roth can kiss his starter's spot goodbye.

Unless something changes, Roth and JT are set to share time, with JT in on 3rd down situations, etc. Who knows though, he may turn back the clock a bit and play every down.

Does anyone really think that the best players won't be on the field?

JT is a play maker. Plain and simple.

My guess, as it was from the beginning (even with the Sporano/part time player talk) is that he is going to see a lot of action. He will mix in at ROLB, LOLB and RDE in nickle packages.

He may not be full time and may sit on 1st down in a few series but once he starts disrupting the game as usual, he will be on the field and probably leading the team in sacks, FF's and tackles for loss....and maybe throw in a TD and a safety.

They are probably going to share time. I agree about that. Keeping players fresh is a must. But JT is a proven probowler and defensive mvp. Roth just cannot match that.

Jt will probably start.

go to WQAM.com and listen to JT himself.

Or put your head in the sand and ignore REALITY!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah if Matt Roth stays hurt, JT will start. If Roth is healthy.......JT isn't starting!

The fans? They matter more. They forgive easy. As Mourning found. As Taylor is finding. He didn't expect the crowd, on the first day of training camp, to be so big. Or cheer so loud? for him.

"That was very emotional," Taylor says. "I tried to be a tough guy and not shed a tear, because the guys were looking at me and Coach Sparano was cracking jokes. But that was tough. It was a tough 100-yard walk to the other side of the field, and very, very heartfelt."

"You know, there's no place like home. And it's great to be back."

Where a good friend wanted him. WOW what a quote!!! When people say wildcard, and how is Miami going to beat this team ect.. Reading that explains it all to me, and should answer all the ney sayers!

15-20 years ago a player that was in his 30's would be considered to be at the end of his career. that is not the case anymore, because todays players are in much better shape and take far better care of themselves then those of the past. Especially a player such as JT. In fact, most sports are seeing players play at a high level longer then ever before. Alot of players in the NFL don't see big declines in their performance until they reach at least 35. JT can go beyond that if he so desires to do so. How far? Only time will tell!

and JT hasn't had serious injuries like torn ligaments or back problems.

Why do you have to be so negative all the time mike. Roth is a good player i can't deny that but he will never be JT. You just cannot compare the two. Jt is a better player even at his age.

I see it a little differently than everyone here thus far. My interpretation of the situation would be that since JT AND Roth are at such a good level of play, that it simply wouldn't be efficient to not use them both, each in certain situations that they excel at. Roth can provide a better run stopping defense versus certain backs, and JT can take the heat to QB's, so why not sub them in and around, keeping them fresh the entire season? I guess the same could be said about the tandem of Brown and Williams, same concept.

I think that this team is doing that with all our players! In fact i think it is way smarter to have two solid players in one position rather than a average and realy good one!

Because Matt Roth has been riding an exercise bike for most of training camp. Yeah,he's the starter if injuries (like Roth) occur.

Roth played injured most last year with groin. Had to get surgery to fix it, in fact if he comes back 100 percent, i think you would see a 7 8 sack consistant guy, who can stuff the run. Taylor is a better pass rusher, but not a better run stuffer. They both have there place on this roster, and will be exciting to watch how they are used.

No way Roth is even close to JT. The reason why he can't make sacks has to do with his short arms, not his groin. And he's not a better run stuffer than JT, nor is he better in coverage. Matt Roth is not causing turnovers and scoring TDs. He is not a feared guy.

Matt Roth is a slightly above average OLB that has taken 3 years and 2 positions before he found his place in the NFL. He's not a pro-bowler, he's not a playmaker, he's not a game changer, he's not a future HOFer. In short, Matt Roth is no JT.

Well you speak as if he is a Patriot, Jt played his position to strenght, and yes is a more athletic player, with longer arms!!! Mat roth could be a pro bowler, so please dont diss the Roth, because he was solid last year, even playing hurt.

I don't see anyone game planning around Roth. I like the guy but he is an underachiever so far...2nd round pick????

Not a real fair comparison until (when & if) Roth gets healthy.

Some teams are going to run hard on us, and we'll need a solid stuffer.
Some will be pass happy & we'll need more pass pressure and less run concerns
Some will be balanced, and we'll need a lot of both.

The traing camp time JT is getting to prove he can do both will give him an edge in pass happy and in more snaps than was initially planned.

Roth when healthy will be a big help for longevity of JT, and a fresh rotational scheme is likely.

If Roth doesn't get healthy soon, it's a mott point.

Sorry to disagree with you here jim but............When roth was healthy yes he had a couple of good games but he never had the kind of games JT had. Not even close. JT can turn a game around by himself. Roth cannot.

In other words i think JT still got a lot left and he can make a type of impact on a game and roth can't.

Im talking about a porter kind of impact...Like when he won that san fran game at the end with a sack....

I wish roth the best but i believe he is not in the same level as JT.
