Dolphins v. Jets: Game Day Thread

Okay folks, here we go, this could be our last game of the season or with a win and more luck, we could make the playoffs. I don't think we have the team to go anywhere if a playoff spot is there for us, but, who knows for sure. Anyway, we play the Jets this afternoon. They have had a terrible season but they could mount enough tough play and win the game spoiling our last second hopes. Again, who knows for sure.

I will be watching. Here's hoping we have a bit of cheering to do.

Go Dolphins.

Colonel

Meanwhile the Broncos are trouncing Kansas City's practice squad so, it may be a moot point. Denver is in the driver's seat.

Might as well bench the starters. Not worth it getting injured for nothing. Denver is going to win but at least we don't have to see the Jills stomp on Miami in round 1.

SIGH. Going out just like we came in. 2024 needs to go away. This isnt Huntley s fault either. Getting out coached today. 4th and goal twice......and we settled for a FG. TWICE.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

They need to clean house. No more half measures.

McD fields one of the most undisciplined teams in the league and that all on him.

Grier is Grier. 6 years into the rebuild and we're only slightly better.

Go after Ben Johnson from Detroit and have him bring their assistant GM with him.

He's a good coach who we once had and Flores fired him for his dual OC nonsense.

Rebuild the lines and clean up the cap next year. Maybe we can actually be playing for the 1 seed instead of needing help to sneak in.

This is getting old.

Sorry. McDaniels cant get this team prepared. Rodgers is having a field day on what might be his last game.

I've always been lukewarm on Tua and have pretty much written him off as a quarterback who can win us a championship, but I never disliked him—until now.

There seems to be an arrogance about him this year, especially since the concussion that I just don't get. However, there is something about him wearing those sunglasses today that just makes me hate him..lol

Why would anybody want to see this mess in the playoffs anyways.

The "Fat Lady" has sung. "Turn out the lights."

Rogers had a great day--going out--with a win under his belt and reaching the 500 TD club. Good for him.

Dolphins need an overhaul. Tua needs to go. Replace the HC position again and dump Grier. Sound familiar? It should. Dolphins continue to fail by doing the same thing over and over. It's insanity...yet Tua isn't the guy, nor is McDaniel and Grier, who is a major part of team mediocrity.

Back to the drawing board. We need a miracle.

Long drive with my son we both agreed its best they went down in flames. A win in NJ is meaningless. I hate seeing the Jet fans happy if even just for a day.....but Ross is an idiot and unless he gets the message between his boney eyes he wont get it.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

As far as I can tell, cutting Tua in 2025 would incur a negative cap savings of $44M (pre-June 1) or $19M (post June 1). I think we'd be better off cap-wise if we kept him on the roster irrespective of whether he plays or not.

The Broncos swallowed an 82 million cap charge for Russel Wilson this year and made the playoffs.

The difference? A real coach and a promising rookie QB. No gimmicky bs. Tough, hard nosed football.

We're not capable of that with our OC masquerading as a head coach.

At least I have my Buckeyes!

That's a great point. According to overthecap dot com it was $53M in dead money for 2024 and $32M for 2025 but, to your point, an incredibly high number. For 2024, their total dead cap charge was $91M or nearly 40% the salary cap.

Though they apparently went about it the wrong way and were punished for it, they weren't wrong for pursuing Sean Payton.

Draft an early round (but not first round) QB, he beats out Tua in training camp or early on in the season for the starting job (unless Tua hurts himself again beforehand). Tua rides out the season riding the pine...and he's gone after next season.

Sounds simple doesn't it grinning smiley
