Well this was a no brainer. Titans #29 overall 1st round pick last season was Oline man Issiah Wilson . He is a large human (6-foot-6, 353 pounds) and had tons of potential. But he got a DUI early on and almost refused to comply with COVID restrictions. Suspended most of 2020.
Basically we swamped 2021 and 2022 7th rounders and got Wilson. So It cost us nothing.
1st round Lineman with a chip on his shoulder for nothing. Hopefully he appreciates the new start and Flores can straighten him out. This could be an incredible steal for us and may signal a move away from drafting Sewell.
Supposedly The Dolphins had this guy high on their Predraft list last season but the Titans took him as a surprise move late in the first round.
LOL. This guy is a trip. Not a great team player.......but damn I'd like to party with him!
An August appearance at a Tennessee State University party amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the Titans in training camp. The police report read that Wilson was attempting to jump off the second story balcony upon police arrival.
A September auto accident that had him arrested for DUI after wrecking his car while doing donuts in downtown Nashville.
An October automobile accident that totaled his vehicle.
A December suspension by the Titans for a “violation of team rules”.
A New Years eve party on a yacht while his teammates prepared for a “win or go home” matchup in Week 17.
The Titans were glad to be rid of him. If Flores can rein him in this could be the ultimate Lottery ticket!
Hes got alot of energy. Flores thinks he can channel that energy. If not it cost us nothing. ZIP. we get the 7th rounder back next draft.
I'm sure Flores sat him down looked him in the eye and said..... Son . This is It. You got 1 more shot at this. Balls in your court . I'm also pretty sure he's got every veteran talking to him.We lose nothing for trying. The upside is Huge.
He played with Solomon Kindley in college, so I'm guessing there was some internal vetting there before pulling the trigger on, as you said, a basically no-cost transaction.
The hidden cost in these things - and I don't think it is in this case, given how wildly he went off the rails last year - is allowing it to affect how you think about the need. I.e., as has been pointed out, certainly don't count on the kid as a known quantity, by any stretch of the imagination.
I don't have a problem with Miami grabbing this guy. As Treasure said....this is only a swap of 7th rounders. Doesn't work out? Fine, see ya later.
Hey, this guy was picked in the first round, so evidently he has potential. Now it is up to Flores and the coaching staff, with assistance from the players. This guy gets his head right and Miami has stolen another one.
Hopefully, this guy can help solve some of the OLine's problems.
Think about it Sam, Miami needed to shore up it's OLine, and hopefully, this will help.
Ok i give you that
It didnt cost anything. But i just dont like the idea of bringing troblesome players to our team. So far flores has done a good job of bring good caracter players to this team. Hope itworks out for the best. But i just dont see a person with mental problems straighening out all of a sudden. Maybe im wrong but i think there is something wrong with this kid. He messed up way too many times.
Mental Problems? LOL. Hes a 20 yr old kid who was given a million dollars. Doughnuts and wrecking cars is stupid but hardly a diagnosis for a mental disorder. The human brain is not fully formed until your mid 20's. This kid needs structure and a person to look up to. We picked up a bunch of Olineman and supposedly Wilson was high on Flores list. He was going to be a Dolphin in the second round. If he had issues in College Flores wouldn't have wanted him and Tennessee wouldn't have picked him that high. He just got handed a bunch of money and he literally went nuts.
Really the only person who has anything to lose is Wilson himself. Tenn. already bit the bullet. We get the pick back next draft regardless. Wilson has to decide if he wants to be a Pro NFL lineman or not. Because after this he's going to be a bouncer at Bernie Macs comedy club.
He also went to Flores High school so there is a lot of history between him and Coach. Along with playing with another Georgia player, I believe this will work out. Like others have mentioned it is really a no brainer and won't cost much if it does not work out.
It is the kind of thing that the (you know who) did all the time. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it does not, but I think it was a great deal.
For the kids sake i hope you all are right and he works out. But if he messes up once let him go quick. This team doesnt need the distraction. I think we are on the right track so far. No need to go forward one step the 2 steps backward.

For a teenager/young adult!? Thats a Tuesday evening. You need to get out more. More to life then getting drunk and playing dominoes.
I don't know for sure......but alot of homes are only 1 story. And it occurred in the summer so a pool was very likely involved. Imagine a 6-6 353pd guy doing a cannonball into a pool!? Tidal wave........
He was trying to jump off of the roof to get away from the police. He knew he was in trouble and didn't want to get caught. It was not brain damage, just being young and stupid. We have everything to gain and nothing to lose. If he takes a step sideways you simply cut him. Somewhere in the draft I'd take an OL player just in case if I was Grier.

Oh no doubt. Don't gamble on this kid. I Think we were trying for a new center in free agency. Thats our weakest point.
Reports show we are going heavy after the Pats Center David Andrews. That would be a nice upgrade over Ted Karras who was a bit of a disappointment making things even harder on TUA last season. Watch the sacks on TUA.....the pocket started to collapse almost immediately after the ball was snapped.
Well, Issiah Wilson has already been cut. Evidently he was several hours late for his physical and missed several meetings and optional workouts that the promised to show up for. That reclaimation project didn't work out too well.
"Dolphins cut ties with former 1st-round tackle Isaiah Wilson".
What a waste of potential. For Tennessee to let him go so cheap....it had to be bad.
Shame he has no father , no one to shake him , to guide him, no one to remind him what kind of an opportunity he is throwing away.
This is not a complete waste for the Dolphins though. Isiah Wilson just showed all rookies and the Current players Flores doesn't F around. Honor your commitments, be professional.
Shame....we could have used him.
GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Nobody said he wasn't a mess Sam. But trying to help the kid at no cost to us was the right thing to gamble on. Either he makes progress toward being a productive member of the team and tries to get his career and life back together or he dosen't. Now we have our answer. Shame but he simply didn't want to be helped apparently. Im wondering if he's Bi-Polar or Manic-Depressive. Trading down, as much as I don't like the idea isn't dumb either. In fact, I think it's most likely what we will do next month.
My fantasy draft is: Smith at 3-8, Waddle at 18 (Don't think he'll be there though) and Etienne at 36 (Don't think Harris will last this long.) I just don't think there is any way it actually happens.
Fuller, Parker, Waddle, Smith, Etienne, Gesicki would be a scary group.
Even though it was a slightly higher pick a seventh for a seventh is pretty much free. Especially since it's a long shot for any seventh round pick to actually make the team and then contribute in any meaningful way.
A first round talent for a 7th rounder that we get back next year?
I'd take that ALL day EVERY day 24-7. I'll never apologize for wanting to make this team better.
Dont you gamble on the weekends Sam? I dont but you always talk about going to the Casino. You dont try to turn $10 into $100?
Dolphins took a chance on walk ons like Cameron Wake ....Larry Little was a Walk on! All successful teams have success stories from players with all the odds against them. Its inspiring to see a guy work his way up. But some people like Cecil the Diesel who have a ton of potential cant be helped. You almost sound happy this kid cant be helped. Like I'm wrong for wanting him to be a find for this team.
From a business point of view this was a no brainer and again...I bet it sends a message.
LOL Sam. The last few posts show what your about.
Me? I'm a DOLPHINS fan. I love this team. I have fun and make predictions but will admit if I'm wrong which happens alot. My agenda is this team winning period.....NOT BEING RIGHT.
You? You still cant admit how wrong you were about Ryan Tannehill. How you rooted against this team just to prove you were right. You selfishly want high draft picks just so you get a RUSH on draft day not caring about whats actually best for the Dolphins or the big picture. You sound happy this guy didn't work out . Man.....you need to really dig deep inside yourself Sam.
Are you a Dolphins fan? Do you want them to win or me to be proven wrong more? I want Miami to win. Period.
Ok, so this trade did not work out. I still would have done it. It was worth a chance. You win some trades and loose some. It did not cost much. There are no sure things, keep trying to make our Phins better. I am with you.
