Chris Clemons & Gibril Wilson....

I know it's only been a couple days of mini camp but with all the money we gave Wilson...Just think if Clemons actually wins the starting job.

He was touted as the safer pick of the two safeties from Clemson (Micahel Hamlin) and one that could contribute immediately.

The coaches are high on the kid and he has 4.3 speed (4.41 combine), a nose for the ball (even though he only had 5 ints in college)...and likes contact. (323 career tackles, 20 passes broken up and five interceptions) He was the fastest safety at the combine. (actually fastest among CB's as well...Darius Butler 4.46) Hamlin ran a 4.62 40. There were only 5 players (Wr's) at the combine faster than CC.

What do we do with Wilson? (5 yr/27 mil/ 8 mil guaranteed) It is a good problem to have...especially since Wilson could step in for Bell with no drop off and we were very fortunate for Bell to be healthy all last year.

I am really excited to see our new and improved secondary. What was a weakness could be a strength this year....which means more sacks and more turnovers (ints) hopefully. Clemons could actually play the nickle role. We could end up with two FA signees sitting on the bench....Green and Wilson???? Is this our Donald Thomas of 2010? (CC 5th round #165)

It's a nice problem to have, as you say. The good thing is Wilson will likely be good as well (not like Wilford last year), so I expect the coaches to rotate players when necessary. Also, Bell hasn't been healthy for a full season until last year, so there's always a chance he'll go down. If he does, we won't see a dropoff in the secondary.

Wait until they play a couple of pre season games first eesti. Then we will se whos who.

I agree about our Defensive back field been a strengh this year...

We got young at the DE position last year marling lankford...Cameron wake.........These guys have a lot of upside......Now this year we got
dontae and smith and get younget at the DB positon.....

Im telling you this is a master plan....Next year we get younger at the LB and DT position. And maybe pick up another receiver.

Offense............

The QB position is in place.....Hoping white is the real deal
The RB position is in place.....Ronnie Ricky cobbs Enough said
The OL Is set...................Young Agressive talented OL.
The TEnd Position...............Fasano and martin Get even better
_______________________________________________________________________
The WR position.................Weakest position on Offense.....Becomes great if Ginn ,Bess have breakout year and turner and hartline contribute. Specially turner who has all the tools....

_______________________________________________________________________

Defense....

The DE position is in place .....Lankford merling and wake will have a
solid season.

The DT position..................Ferguson Has solid year injury less and soliai finnally get his head out of his butt becomes good. We will draft a NT early in the draft next year.

The LB position......Needs Upgrade will also draft a couple of LBs early next year....Porter isnt getting any younger and crowder and ayodele are just role players not superstars.....so is roth. Like i said need upgrade in draft...

DB position...............Hoping Dontae and smith can become starters soon.....And i think thats exatcly what will happen.

S position...............We are more than set here...........Gibril Wilson adn yeremiah bell are better than solid starters and will compliment each other.
______________________________________________________________________

Special teams......

Ginn and bess will return punt and kicks............Need better blocking that last year..........I know it will be a shame to have ginn hurt himself returning kicks but at the same time ginn has shown he is one of the better returners in the league and can score 6 when you least expect it.

Kicker Carpenter has a job in 2009-10

Punter I doubt anybody can come in and take fields job............

_______________________________________________________________________

2009 record-----I will go out on a limb and say we will go 10-6 this year and have an outside shot at making the playoffs.

Beats the heck out of having to worry about 3rd and long ... instead of seeing it as an int opportunity, (like last year).

Sam, Wake isn't a 3-4 DE. He'll be playing OLB in our 3-4.

You mean like Jt would if he was here???

Thats

Joey Porter
crowder
ayodele
roth
wake
anderson

Porter and crowder on the inside

roth, wake on the outside.

If wake is the real deal then we would be ok at the LB position. Injuries aside I dont see no reason why joey couldnt have another 15 + sack season. Roth will improve from last year. He now has a year under his belt at this position. He can afford to lose a couple of pounds and get to the 260 LB level. He is listed at about 279.

Exaclty..Although we drafted a couple of running backs last year lex hilliard still on the roster. I wonder how far is he coming along?
At 6'0 240 LB he is supposed to be a bruiser. We'll see!.

Porter can't play inside. He's strictly an OLB, and probably a WOLB only. It would be:

Crowder and Ayodele on the inside
Porter and Wake on the outside

If we pick up JT, I'm not sure where Roth lands. If he could move inside, then we'd get some much-needed depth at ILB (and he might even unseed Ayodele). We also have Anderson and Moses at OLB.
