...to pick his own QB!

The look on his face, after Tannehill got stripped late, that should have cost us the game, said it all.
He knows he's stuck with a lemon for the rest of the year.

He could whisper to Tannehill until he's hoarser in the throat, and it won't make a damn difference.

It's proven you don't need to pick a QB in the 1st round to get a legit player. But it does need to be within the first 4 rounds.

I'm sure Gase will scour tape of every Q in the NCAA, and target him in the next draft.

This WILL be Tanney's last year here. Book it!!

Unless of course it's going to be the last year for Gase. Their pathetic overtime win against the Browns looks more likely that's going to be the case.

Ask yourself this. How did they get close enough to strip Tannehill in the first place?

Gase is safe for a few years. Ross is loyal to a fault. Not until fans show up at the stadium with torches and pitchforks does he conside firing anybody. Tannehill might be safe for another year too.

I read that on the strip, Juwan James was beaten and then was benched in favor of Billy Turner who played in OT at right tackle.

Do you think it at all possible that Gase's expression could be because of the line play allowing RT to get hit? I have seen this on many occasions. Gets down to crunch time and it just opens up on RT.

RT is definitely not a lemon. Granted, he needs to put a good four quarters together, not questioning that. But a lemon? Take a look around the league; guaranteed there are quite a few teams that wouldn't have a problem getting him.

You may be correct that Miami will be looking at QBs in the next draft and you may be correct that this could be RT's last year in Miami. Can't say for sure in either of the above...just have to wait until the season is over.

Gase isn't going anywhere for a while.

He has a bright mind and is an up-and-coming HC.

Ross needs to just keep patient and let Gase put this thing together.

Belichick wasn't much of a HC in the beginning, either.

Hey Cap,
If you're QB is continually in the bottom half, or third in the league, and your team has never had a winning record under him, he's a lemon.
He's a guy that will never take you anywhere consistently. A guy who's more suited to be a back-up, than a starter.
That's what Gase is saddled with. And he knows it.

Every QB in the league is under constant pressure, and the real good ones know how to deal with it, starting with ball security.
Then it moves to early recognition and reaction in the pocket. Extending plays and avoiding sacks. That kind of thing.

These are the skill sets that RT is void of. He desperately lacks the instincts and moxie that makes a top 10 NFL QB.

If I can recognize these major flaws, I know Gase is all over it.
Notice how he took the ball out of his hands in the red zone in OT?
Very telling.

I'm jealous of the Eagles having Wentz who's playing in the NFL like a 10 year veteran as a rookie.

Tanny is a college quarterback and will never be completely successful until put in a college scheme.

Never before have I seen a team win the coin toss in OT and defer.
Teams WANT the ball in OT.
Hue Jackson had very little fear that Tannehill would march the team down the field and score.
Sad.

They won the toss? Well, I think deferring is always the best shot unless you are afraid that the other team will score a touchdown, which will deprive you the opportunity to tie. I think that's the way I heard it. A Miami field goal would have given them the opportunity to either tie or even win.

Obviously, they were not sweating bullets that we would score a TD in the first possession of overtime.

Here's the way Dave Hyde of the Sun Sentinel put it,

"Here’s all you need to know about how much Cleveland feared Ryan Tannehill: Jackson, as mentioned, deferred the overtime kickoff. He gave Tannehill the ball first in overtime, where one possession can win the game. That’s a sure slap in the face against the Dolphins offense in general and Tannehill, specifically. No one does that against a top quarterback. Jackson proved right. The Dolphins had to punt before winning the game on the second series. But is anyone feeling better about Tannehill for it?"

Read option quarterback. He'd be a gunslinger.

The offense needs to be geared to Tanne's skill set a little (a lot) better. He needs to be able to roll out more, read option more .... he does very well when he buys himself time, and is allowed to create plays. Also, in the absence of an O-Line that can run block, it seems that not only would the read option help. so would a little more of a screen game to offset the inability to run.

Well (R/J)ay, I don't know whether you are referring to the pessimism or the analysis of how to use Tanny you are disagreeing with.
