A big WR in the vein of Keeshawn Johnson, or possibly a TE of he puts on some weight? What do you guys think?

I expect we wanted Barden but got beat to the punch, although Turner has experience in a big time program and is a big target. Not sure he has the NFL level separation ability.

I agree guys, I think we wanted Barden or Williams but since they got snatched under our noses, there wasn't another "Big" receiver left after Turner besides Carr from Florida State who wont be drafted.

crushing that we missed out on barden. But turner is good and comes from a good school. Lots of teams were interested in him, including the cowboys.

I like the pick... speed isnt everything... if he is tall and catch... just get him down field and hope there is a small corner so that the team cover needs safety help over the top... he could be what we were looking for.. Everyone says he has good hands and route running ability... Jerry Rice never had speed but he had those key attributes...

NOT SAYING HE IS JERRY RICE. just making a point

He was the number one receiver recruit coming out of high school. It sure looked like the Giants moved infront of the Phins to steal Barden so I will be interested in seeing who develops into the better player.

Yeah I was wrong about that but you had him being our 1st round pick so you weren't exactly right either. He improved his stock at his pro day.

They were talking on NFL network that Miami did not like Ramses Barden so I don't think we were planning on taking him. He may be two years out from contributing.

We'll see how Turner does. He has to beat out London, Armstrong, Wilford and Lowber for an active spot.

Bears just got Iglesius.

Hopefully he works out for us, he wasn't impressive at USC, did nothing his first 3 years, and look at Mike Williams & Dwayne Jarrett who were more productive, and we already got a bust in Wilford. In the NFL separation is everything.

We could get Eddie Royal speedster like Johnny Knox and a proven guy like Igelesias(maybe speed was an issue), and sign an FA like Malcolm Floyd, I don't recall anyone signing him.

Yes it will be, Barden or Turner. Interesting. Probably who stays healthy will be the key. Turner is a good pickup for us. I didn't expect him to go 3rd round though. There was really a run on receivers in this draft.

He will beat out Wilford and Armstrong definitetly.

Ginn, Camarillo, Bess, London, Turner.

Turner will beat out Wilford by just breathing.

But who knows, maybe the direct competition will put a spark under him the way Ricky's first arrival put a spark under Ronnie.

From USCRipsIt.com:

- WR Patrick Turner: 4.59/40

He's big but not fast and certainly not quick. He'd better work overtime on getting open.

Red Zone target. Will be fighting with London for the 4th WR spot.

This guy has 2009 Practice Squad written all over him

That's why I was wondering if he could be a project TE instead. Put 15-20 more pounds on his frame and he could be good.

I just read somewhere that Turner ran a 4.46 at his pro day.

had a bad combine. had a great pro day. he had a so-so USC career.

Probably can't beat out our Top 4 WR's. Deffinitly a practice squad guy this year. We will see how he has progressed about a year from now

Hes definately *NOT* a practice squad guy.

Get your facts right, MIKE0......Cammarillo will probably start the season on the PUP list.

Turner at least will have a niche. We don't have a big red zone receiver. Wilford didn't pan out. So he'll basically take Wilford's place as long as he can play. If he can play he'll be getting plenty work. If we had drafted someone like Iglesias instead, it would just be another average sized WR competing with London, Camarillo and everyone else on the roster. Turner will have a spot. I think he'll do well, even though he was drafted waaaaay too high.

Pat Kirwan on Sirius offered some positive feedback on Turner. He said he was glad that Parcells didn't lump him in with Mike Williams and Dwayne Jarrett. Kirwan didn't feel that he was a reach in the 3rd because of his size and his experience in a pro style offense.

Hopefully he's more than just a gym nut. Remember David Boston?
