At one point in his career, recently at that, Rivers was a top 5 talent at his position in this league. Arguements can be made that he isn't at that level any longer but he certainly can be placed in the top 10. The reason I don't trade for him in this scenario isn't because I don't believe Rivers to be a great QB, it's because I don't think we've seen RT's ceiling, and Rivers is on the downside of his career. We've already seen his best years.

For what its worth, Rivers was 5th in the league in yards and 2nd in passer rating (for guys with 500+ attempts) just two seasons ago.
He is getting older, but he's on the right side of 35. You'd still get 3-4 productive years out of him.
Besides, look at the supporting cast he's had of late in SD. Gates has been getting older and less productive and they really haven't brought in much WR talent to help the guy out.
I'm not sure we are the right spot for him, but if you put him in a better situation than he's in now he still has plenty in the tank.

Truth, San Diego has had a revolving at WR over the past few years, starting with Vincent Jackson.
SD doesn't seem interested in keeping its starters, thus all the new guys coming in, and its happening again this year, along with Gates saying he doesn't want to be in on as many plays as he has been.
Its possible that's another reason Rivers doesn't seem to want to sign another contract with the Chargers.
U R tweeting me @OmarKelly but not thinking about me? Funny! Go back to writing based on your vast FB experience.

To @HeathEvans44 but this whole theory that I'm a "coward" sure isn't accurate. I'm just not thinking about you.

While I love the fact that Evans questioned Omar's football knowledge (hilarious), he has always taken every chance to bash the Dolphins. It would seem that it stems from being released in 2005 AND then being hurt by a Dolphin in a game in 2009 vs the Saints. He went on IR and would then go on to miss the SB win. (too bad for him he lives in West Palm Beach)
He is among my least favorite (can't stand) analyst in football...others include Eric Davis and Lavar Arrington. All on NFLN. Bunch of angry, loud mouths, IMO who offer no insight outside of the obvious.
Geez.......I know this is the slowest time of the year and Omar has nothing else going on unless he is finding some new angle to write about, but I believe he hit an all time low and that's saying alot for the dreaded one. Imagine going through life with no other purpose then to invent new ways to try and pretend he has anything to say.
Ryan Tannehill and Dan Marino have pimples on their ass they pay more attention to. Lol. One Hall of Famer and another one headed there.
It's not just him putting Marino down, he's comparing him to the hated cheater Tom Brady, even if you thought it why would you say it? Obviously twitter hits pay his salary
