One of the few BRIGHT spots of the team? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but....to me Tanny is learning. I'll give you that Tanny is probably second only to Russell Wilson when trying to make a play out of the pocket. Tanny very well may be another great QB given an unyielding pocket. I don't think so because there is more to the deep pass than a secure pocket. I still don't see that long bomb pinpoint accuracy that most NFL quarterbacks have. And only being satisfied with a new Dan Marino, no, I'd be satisfied with him being as good as Flacco, Tony Romo, or Big Ben Rothelisberger.

Flacco, Romo play power formation offense with big receivers off of playaction. That's quite different than what we run.

It's one thing to commit safeties to the box because of the run game, and have 50/50 1-on-1 with your big receiver on the boundary, and just heave it up (like we saw Russell Wilson do in the SB.); and it's another to play spread with smaller receivers and only 5 blocking where you have to throw quickly. Our system and personnel give us some chances, less likely to succeed, and does not rely on it like power formation, play action offense.

(This is one of the reasons it was dumb to pass on Ryan Mallett who was exceptional for our ground and pound game under Sparano with Brandon Marshall.)

Ben is a different case, dude is unique in his improvisation, he gives Ravens' Dline fits. It's unheard of, and unfair to expect that of RT.

LOL, Hoo. I'm saying that I can't consider Tanny a Luck, Brees, Mannings plural, or Brady and I'm saying I'd just be happy to consider him in the league of Rothelisberger and you're saying that's it is unfair to expect him to be in the Flacco-Big Ben league. On that statement, it's not with me that you'll have a fight with, but with others on this board.

lol.

I'm just saying, as far as deep ball, it's unfair.

But as far as QB rating/performance, it's fair. He is already at 93, with 590 attempts, which is high, 6.86 avg, 66%, 27/12. (Brady is at 97, 580, 64%, 7.1 avg, 32/9.) RT is close. He is up there with those guys. (Flacco's rating is 91.)
