We are top 10 in rushing. Going into week 12 we were 4th. we have over 1500 yards rushing and 4.6 yard avg. Miller could have a 1000 yard season with a little luck and would already have one if we weren't using 3 backs. Tannehill DOSENT have a long ball because he DOSENT throw it well not because of th o line. Of course any QB will do if he ALWAYS gets 5 seconds of pass protection but NOBODY gets a consistent 5 seconds in the nfl. It's just not reality.

As I remember, the complaint about Henne was that he had no "touch" when he threw the ball and that he threw it 90 mph even if the guy was only two inches away. Brandon Marshall said that we lacked a quality QB.
Not sure he really is an upgrade over Henne. Still struggles in the redzone. More athletic but we, or he, doesn't take advantage of this. Watch how the hawks use Russell Wilson and how he instinctually reacts
I think he has improved but this inability to throw the deep ball or hit touch passes like the endzone miss to Wallace are gaping holes in his game. Tough decision ahead for the Phins
Wilson has the instincts and smarts that come w/ playing the position over the years. Anytime you have success w/ 1 div 1 school and then have success w another you have the smarts t play the qb position. The clock is winding down for Tanne.
last week you were raving about his high completion percentage. it was high again yesterday too.
not one team respects the deep ball when playing us. you guys can blame the oline not giving him enough time but it's as much tannehill's fault. until he hits a few he's always going to see a loaded box.

I think the clock died, its time to move from this loser qb and use him as a backup only. Lets play Matt Moore the rest of the season, he at least has a long ball.

At least if we play matt moore we will end up 7-9 and get a better draft pick...

RE: The thing here is that you said the last time we had a good O-Line was the last time we had a good QB...I'm assuming that you were referring to Marino and that's just wrong as I showed.
The problem with our O-Line lately is not run blocking...it's pass blocking. We simply can't do it very well after our injuries. RT does not have the time to throw anything but shorter passes thats why he is only throwing them. It's an attempt to be safe with the ball and to get the ball out before he gets sacked...six times.
RT attempts a throw in a fourth best in the NFL 2.57 seconds (Brady is the best at 2.49 Seconds)
The difference is this RT gets sacked in a third worst 2.48 Seconds. (Brady is 16th best at 3.26 Seconds)
Since RT is attempting a throw in 2.57 Seconds and he's also getting sacked in 2.48 Seconds...he's constantly under pressure...and under that pressure very quickly. Just not enough time usualy to go deep as often as most would like.

RESPONSE: GOLL-LEEEEE! Surprise, surprise, surprise! This is Gomer Pyle telling you that "You sound just like another guy who posts on this board called dolphin."
Upon reflection I think the biggest reason we lost this game was that we didn't run the ball enough. You can't let Suggs and Dumervil pin their ears back like that when you have a problem protecting Tannehill. We needed to control the tempo better. 16 attempts isn't enough.
As I posted on the board some days ago, my best buddy (a 49ers Fan) from our days at Cal, used to say about my team (and this was in the 1980's when they were matched against his 49ers) "Same ole Dolphins, can't run and can't stop the run."

I have been saying this for months! Even when we are running the ball effectively, Lazor abandons the run. It makes no sense whatsoever. WE were up in the first half and running VERY effectively so what do they do in the 2nd half? PASS PASS PASS...
There was even an article yesterday in the Sentinel about this same subject.
I think the reason we've lost several games is because of this same issue.
The other issue I have is taking Miller out when he's hot. I know they want to keep him fresh but when Williams goes in and tanks it as he did Sunday, leave the guy out. It's not like Miller is gassed after 3 carries. Williams was killing momentum & drives on Sunday.
This is how the game started...
Miller 15 yards, Miller 3 yards, Miller pass for 9 yards.
Put in Williams, Run for 4 yards, no gain....then put Miller back in on 3rd and 1 and he gets stuffed for no gain. Kick a FG.
next series...
Miller 5 yards, Miller 7 yard pass, Miller 5 yard pass...
2nd and 5, Miller off tackle for 7 yards. First down.
Pass incomplete to Williams, Miller 2 yards. TD to Hartline
Miller had 68 yards of total offense in the first half.
First series in the second half we did not run the ball one time! Miller did not touch the ball! The rest of the 3rd quarter Miller had 3 touches. run for 10, pass for 7, run for -2.
4th quarter Miller touched the ball TWICE!
This is beyond ridiculous!
Everyone knows the line is better at run blocking that pass pro so why doesn't the OC capitalize on this? Ball control, take the ball out of the hands of Stafford, Rodgers, Manning, Flacco. Let alone the opposing running game.
Miller is averaging 4.8 per carry, He averaged over 5 ypc in 5 games and one game over 7.

The read option only works in specific situations. Once teams scheme around it, it is not as successful. It is basically just one play.
When he takes a huge hit as he did last week, I can understand why they abandon it.
I do think they could have gotten more creative in ways to get Tannehill running the ball though.
Joe, let me save you some frustration.....Chyren considers any type of play that is not a straight dropback the "read option", any scramble, roll out, designed run, flush from the pocket, etc. Just an FYI
LOL. No holic, I do not consider scrambles out of the pocket when the quarterback is flushed to be read options, nor do I consider rollouts to be read options, nor do I consider quarterback sneaks (hee hee) to be read options nor do I consider it to be a read option when Philbin runs his favorite play where Tanny takes the snap right under center then runs back five yards to where the running back is standing still and stuffs the ball in his belly.
You can look at almost any college game and understand the difference.
