Today is a traditional family day across our nation. Getting together to celebrate the harvest became entrenched a long time ago. We need to remember and appreciate our bounty and to continue to help others who need a brief helping hand.
Today is also a jam packed day for NFL football. While, I'd love to be able to sit in the old easy chair watching today's games, however, my children and grandchildren and 4 loving collies will be occupying much of my time. It will be "Dad this, Dad that, or Grandpa this or that." The dogs will stay in my presence, like shadows, as they know who the patriarch of the family is now (my Dad's gone, he would be 100) and also to vie for attention which I so routinely give to them. (All I need is some goats or sheep and I'd feel quite happy with them looking over the flock with these dogs.) It will be a wonderful day.
I hope each of you enjoys the day with your family and relatives too--even the furry kind. And if you catch a few downs--that's good too.
