And getting better each week THIS season...

It's so nice NOT to have to be thinking about HAVING to draft a QB for a change.

If tannehill keeps improving at this rate we will have something spectacular in a couple of years.

Stay tuned.

But he is almost there.

Hasn't entered MY mind in three yrs. I have to admit , I did think RGIII would have been cool at the time, but since we picked Tannehill and I saw him in pre season workouts....his speed blew me away. I never had a second thought about who is going to lead the Dolphins to a Superbowl. He just needs a supporting cast. Unfortunately that's still a work in progress. sad smiley

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Brees may not make the playoffs. The Saints have a losing record!! What about Rivers? He was supposed to be having a career year.

Look at all those QB's people were clamoring over in favor of Tannehill....and where they are now....

Ryan Mallett, RG3, Weeden, Foles, Cousins, Kaepernick, Locker.

It's not so easy to be an adequate NFL QB.

Yes. 4 TD's for RT and let's not forget that our offense scored 36 points on the 5th best overall defense. They could not stop us.

He has improved by leaps and bounds due to the coaching staff finally letting him do what he does well, MOVE.

To me he still lacks two things to be 'elite'

-He's really not much of a deep threat and that gives defenses one less thing to worry about. AGAIN, I think the staff can help him out on this. Just like he was being asked to be a stand in the pocket QB and it wasn't working, he is being asked to hit small, speed receivers in stride down field with Marino like accuracy. We need to find a big, Calvin Johnson type or even a Steve Smith (small but physical) that will go GET the ball if you get it near them.

-TO me, he needs to become more of a field general. All 'elite' guys do this. Tannehill is cool and collected and it seems respected by the other guys, but when the drive, or the game is on the line he needs to step up, show a little fire and take control. (do they even LET him audible??) On 3rd and 10 when you need a score, Manning, Brady, Marino, Elway, Farve, Rodgers, Brees,...none of them just dutifully ran the play called in if they saw something else...He needs to learn or be allowed to do this if he's gonna be considered 'elite' like we all want.

the point is he has improved a lot so far. And this year is his best year yet...........

He hasn't regressed....He has improved.

And the potential is there to keep improving thats why i said if he keeps it up for two more years then watch out.

Tannehill has gotten better because he's more comfortable. He comfortable both from an experience stand point and from the stand point of understanding the new offense.

That, and the fact that he now has at least a respectable oline in front of him.

He has been making great throws for weeks now. I don't believe the stance that he could not stand in the pocket and be successful. When he struggled doing that, the team around him was not playing well as they are now. Deep passes will come. He is mastering the new offense. Only 11 game in.

Couldn't hurt. I think we found the Steve Smith type player in Landry. I like the idea of a big bodies guy to take Hartline's spot. Sad to say but he is not getting targeted much.

He did that yesterday. The game ended with the defense on the field. Tannehill marched down the field from the Miami 16 and scored with 1:37 left. He also made the 2 point conversion. He is now showing that fire IMO.

I agree Joe. He's shown me enough that I think it's time to lock him up long term, while we might still get him at a bargain.

He's clearly not a guy in the Marino / elway / luck mold who can elevate a bad offense by his mere presence. But he's also clearly a qb you can win with.

He may be never improve on the deep pass enough to make believers out of people like dolphin but my issue with guys who want to get rid of him is that they can't guarantee they'll have a better replacement any time soon.

Link? Because if you took a second to digest your Tannehill bias, I don't believe Rogers even started for 6 yrsconfused smiley

And Breeze or Manning were considered elite or Top ten QB's in their for st 3 seasons. Your 100 % wrong as usual. Our perfect storm of ignorance.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

The Truth all I've ever said is that I want Tannehill to not cost us games. If the team is winning with him I have no problem with him being the QB at all.

And an elite QB does lift the team up around him, they are not just supporting players.

94 rating 20 Tds 8 Ints Not including the running tds is definetely just not supporting cast.

He is making it happen.

But the defense is letting him down.

when you put up 35 points against a top 5 defense throw 3 tds and run one in, this is definetely good enough to beat any team.

Too bad the defense could not stop manning. They scored 3 more points than us ya know.

Manning (elite) QB brought the team back and won the game.

Elite QB's get teams to the playoffs and win games.

I agree the defense has blown chances at times to win games. I said several weeks ago that games are won in the 4th quarter.

Tannehill isn't costing us games. So you got what you wanted.

If our defense makes two plays vs Detroit and GB we are 8-3.

give it time.

Peyton Manning year 3 10-6 33tds 15ints
Drew Brees year 3 2-9 11tds 15ints
Rodgers 2 games played 1td 0ints. he had the luxury of learning the offense for 3 years before starting.

so tannehill was the centerpiece for a rebuild. he's improved and the team has improved every year. he got thrown to the wolves and could have been shell shocked from the abuse he took his first 2 years.

the kid is growing into his role and will be the face of this franchise for years to come.

does he have some short comings? sure but they can be corrected with experience.

he ripped one 20-25 yards down the middle on the final drive that Gibson dropped. those are the kinds of throws that will soften up the safeties. he's getting their and improving.

I agree with that and in our liberal criticism of Tannehill ever becoming 'elite' thats all most of us are saying (save for a couple of obvious trolls on here.)

> ...But he's also clearly a qb you

Agree with that also, He has improved this year more than I ever thought I'd see. IMO he's a better QB than Phil Simms smiling bouncing smiley , Jim McMahon, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, etc. I'm not sure I'd trade him for Joe Flaco or Russell Wilson either at this point.

But if we end up 8-8 again...well, it'd sure be nice if he improves enough next year to 'elevate' us a little when we need it. Rodgers, Stafford and Manning did it for their teams and thats as much why we're where we are as our Defense.

I don't want Marino.and I'm his biggest fan......

I want a superbowl. Tannehill will get us there if the coaching improves.
