GB has averaged 26.8 for the season BUT they have gotten it together over the last two weeks and have averaged 40 ppg!

IMO, We have to win the time of possession by a large margin. Meaning hold GB to under 26 minutes as well as win the turnover battle. At the very least, we just need NOT to turn the ball over.

GB averages 25:54 in T.O.P.
Miami averages 29:44.

Chren

1. Ronnie brown was good but nowhere as good as moreno....He was a slowish LB.

2. Brandon marshall dropped everything in sight. He stunk while he was here.

3. no way in hell fasano is better than clay when healthy.

4. Jake long is not better that the current LT we have now.. Plus he was an injured mess.

5.No way vernon carey is better than the rookie RT we have now.

6. Crowder was all talk but didnt make any gamechanging plays. He is no better than the guys we have now.

7. Vontae davis got beat over and over and nowhere better than grimes

8. Chris clemmons got beat and was inconsistent...

Sorry buddy but thats how it is.

Yeah, I'd agree but take away Knowshon, who is injured now and he's better than Daniel Thomas and/or Lamar Miller.

I guess I had forgotten Knowshon when I bolded Ronnie Brown

He did not drop everything but he did have some crucial drops as I said but again no way that we now have a wide receiver better than him.

Flat out disagree.

Dude, Jake Long WAS A PERENNIAL ALL-PRO, you just seem to be talking about how people are RIGHT NOW and not as they were when they were on our roster.

That's what we're talking about.

Under your argument, Tannehill is better than Dan Marino because Dan Marino is an old man now.

Come on.

Disagree.

Both players are still playing. Although Grimes is a very good player, he is not as good as Davis is now or when Davis was on this team.

How can you say vontae davis is even in the same ball park as grimes.

Grimes made the pro bowl last year...

Not even close..

And when healthy clay showed he is 10 times better than fasano.

Fasano was good but not nearlty as good as clay...

BTW I rather have brandon albert today than jake long. Jake long has had injury problems for the last 3 years or so.

Chren just because you sympathize with vontae because of the way ireland let him go doesnt mean he is better than grimes.

Still remember vontae getting beat over and over.

Grimes is definetely in another league.

the key to winning this game is running it 30+ times.

Grimes was a little better than Vontae in 2013 but has not been as good this year.

Marshall was a league leader in drops the years he was here but 2,228/9 td's over those two years is better than Wallace and Hartline over the same period.

How do you compare Vernon Carey's career to 4 games of James career? That's not fair. Carey started 2 games as a rookie. James already has that number beat.

GB's on a hot streak and I think we'll basically have to play our best to beat them unless they come out flat. If Rodgers is on, it'll be tough to beat them even if we do play our best. (I know...no news to anyone with that statement). To even have a chance, our defense is going to have to play lights out for 60 minutes.

That said, I'd jump on the jsm 30+ runs bandwagon with a couple of twists.
1) Tannehill has to be efficient (read: accurate & timely) when he is called upon to throw. Probably need 70%+ accuracy and 8.0+ YPA on his 20-25 throws.
2) Tannehill has to be a part of the 30+ runs. It's imperative that he makes their D account for him as a runner (OAK game set this up nicely)...and that our passing game benefits from his ability to throw on the run.
3) Tannehill & the OL avoid down & distance holes...no sacks when he could have scrambled or thrown it away.
4) no offensive turnovers...ok, maybe one just to keep it real.

We do this, and we probably score 28+ which - combined with our defense, even against GB most Sundays - gives us a pretty decent chance.

Match-ups to exploit....

Any of our DT's against the Packers C, Corey Linsley. He is the weak link in pass protection.

Cam Wake vs Brian Bulaga. He is good but hasn't faced a DE like Wake.

Our right side vs Datone Jones in the run game. OR Clay Mathews in the run game. Both on the same side.

If Pouncey starts at RG then we can really exploit this. Any way you slice it, no one on the front 7 for GB can matchup with Pouncey whether that be as a center or guard.

The best player on the line for GB is RDE Mike Daniels and he will face Colledge as Branden Albert takes on Julius Peppers.

Marshall cost us a couple of games with those drops. He was a quitter while he was here. He wanted to go back and play with the current bears QB.

It almost seemed he dropped some on purpose. Not saying he did....But it looked like that at times...

Also his 15 yard penalty tantrums didn't help either.

I rather have wallace and hartline. At least they are pros and go about their bussiness like men.

Neither was I.

This is going to be a good test of coaching ability for Philbin. He has the advantage of knowing the Packers, on both sides of the ball.

They know nothing of us other than 4 games worth of tape. Still lots of guess work on their part.

JP SHOULD be able to put together a good game plan and win over his former team. If not, he needs to go!

So are you saying, SamSam, that if we win or come close, your question is why we haven't done so before now?

You said if we did well it would mean that Philbin is NOT coaching material. I don't understand.

I mean if philbin doesnt make a game out of this game, he definetely isnt coaching material...

Because he used to coach for the packers and knows his habits more or less.

If we don't play press coverage/bump and run against the GB receivers, we are toast.

Our corners are not big but they are physical. I will be wanting to hit Philbin with a Coyle if they don't do this.

Rush 4, press coverage on defense with a few blitzes mixed in and run the ball all day on offense and throw in some short passes.

One of the biggest thing that will decide this here game.

Put pressure of the packer qb like we did brady..

and with just 4 men.

If we can manage to pressure rodgers with just 4 rushers we have a chance if not, we are toast.
