Re: HENNE ERA BEGINS

I agree with your position in most situations, but, does the FO feel it can win a SB in 2009 w/ Pennington.
And this is where my scenario addresses this.
Since they already stated that Henne would be the starter in 2010 there must be a transition plan.
If Pennington is playing well and they are scoring TD's in the Redzone and stretching the field then I think they keep him in place.
BUT...
If his play does not appear to be good enough for a January push ( and Henne played well in pre-season) then they have a green light on phasing Henne in.
If Pennington was 29 and signed for 3 years I think they stick with him. But he will not be resigned to a long term contract after 2009, so they will begin the process sooner than in a normal situation.
Let's not forget...as well as Pennington played during much of last season...he played poorly in the play-off game and that will not be forgotten by the guys who are deciding who they want to live or die with. I like Chad P.....but a lot of us were displeased with his playing that game. If I were a Head Coach I would be thinking..."Ok, Chad has some great attributes...but does he give us the best chance down the road in the play-offs?" I think they already made the call...and we will see it before the end of this season.
