SOLIAI may get A LOT of time this season. If you missed it, last pre-season, he hit the Weights Room bigtime, and took off about 25 lbs of blubber, and replaced it w/30 lbs of steel. He improved BIGTIME in his footwork and use of his hands under the tutelage of Mr. J FERGUSON. Everone noticed, especially PARCELLS and SPARANO. I won't forget what he did to McCLAIN in that 1st series of the Playoffs game. I mean, GOOD GOD! McCLAIN wsn't the same for 2 games! This isn't 2007: SOLIAI isn't just "the fat kid" anymore.

J ALLEN has proved his STs ability, and i/m/o, covered DENVER and BUFFALO's "big, fast" WRs like a blanket. Only MOSS beat him, and MOSS beats a lot of CBs. No one besides J ALLEN did well vs the big WRs. W ALLEN was the closest, and J ALLEN was noticeably better. I mean, how many times has a MIAMI CB taken a big, fast WR out of a game? J ALLEN did it twice to BUFFALO and to DENVER as well. I hope that he has, in fact, "arrived", because he'll be needed this season.

Your remarks about TORBOR display a lack of factual knowledge. TORBOR made his name w/the GIANTS as an OLB! He was never an ILB before last season. MIAMI had NO DEPTH--ZIPPO--at ILB so TORBOR got to give it a go. The Triumverate seems to think that he could play ILB. So, cut him some slack. Learning to play a new position takes time. Just look at CROWDER, who after 2 years is still learning the ILB position. He was an OLB, too. You don't become ZACK overnight...it's that simple.

MIAMI may have its big, fast WR. His name is LONDON. We already know that he is very good on STs. He also blocks like a demon out of Hell on running plays, for those who hadn't noticed. When he was thrown to, he CAUGHT THE BALL. He and BESS are two of a kind that way, and both are sneaky-fast: fast enough that they CANNOT be ignored deep. They each have 1/2 a step more speed than CAMARILLO, who i/m/o will be hard-pressed to remaim MIAMI's 3rd WR...although having a 4th WR as good as CAMARILLO is great. Maybe MIAMI won't even draft a WR...unless a HUGE talent falls into its lap.

For those who missed it, C ANDERSON got 2 1/2 sacks from the strongside OLB position w/limited playing time, and ROTH, who's learning a new position, got 5. That's not bad! Actually, ANDERSON is more of a weakside OLB, and will probably back-up PORTER, w/WAKE getting first shot at strongside OLB. The LB most likely to get cut is MOSES. He's learning to play OLB, having been a DE in College. But, he'd better show something, and soon...because everyone else is better than he is right now, and TORBOR's best position is actually OLB.

MIAMI's real problem is ILB, and PARCELLS knows it. Besides having no depth, MIAMI got little pressure on the QB from blitzes by its ILBs: they never seemed to get there. When PARCELLS was in NY, he had L TAYLOR and C BANKS at OLB, a solid NT, and one ILB who could really bring it on blitzes, "PEPPER" JOHNSON. That's what MIAMI does NOT have now, and it's needed. MIAMI's young DEs will get better and better, and won't hit the "Rookie Wall" anymore. And they ALL have the potential to be able to get good QB pressure. BUT, an ILB who could blitz well is a BIG need: a "PEPPER" JOHNSON-type ILB would REALLY help!

Zack was Zack from the day he was drafted. You don't become Zach after several years in the NFL, just like you can't raise your IQ. None of our LBs will EVER get to the level of Zach, which is why we need to draft 1 or 2 good ILBs.

I think we're in agreement that ILB is our biggest need, though.

Actually, it was a lot more. And by the way, the
GIANTS have been a 3-4 "D" for decades, ever since
PARCELLS put it in. If you don't know what you're
talking about, stay quiet and don't advertise it.

You're confusing the GIANTS w/a 2007 MIAMI or a 2008
DETROIT: those teams had precious little talent, so you
might expect a talented Draftee to crack the starting
line-up. But the GIANTS aren't those 2 teamns, are they?
No, the GIANTS were and are 10 or 11 deep in their "Front
7". So which talented, veteran starter would you bench to
let TORBOR play? No, in THAT situation, a player sits and
learns, and tries to be ready when his turn comes--usually
due to injury. That's just the way it is.

What would we be doing with a WR Draftee? Counting him
as money in the bank even before his 1st year? Your
remark is pointless. We're not banking on "potential":
we're just banking on what we've seen in NY and here. As
a footnote as far as LONDON's concerned, NY GIANTS fans
were absolutely FURIOUS w/the organization for letting
MIAMI walk off w/LONDON...my own family included (I'm
from NYC originally).

I'm assuming that you're talking about C ANDERSON.
All I'm saying is that to get 5 sacks from a strong
side OLB who's learning a new position (ROTH) isn't
bad. Neither is getting 2 1/2 sacks from his sub (C
ANDERSON), who got very little playing time. The Rookie
DEs "hit the Rookie Wall", and were invisible for a
while, after c. the 10th Game: that didn't help the
pass pressure at all, but I DO expect better from them
(as well as R WRIGHT) this season...especially MERLING,
who was developing a "spin" move and a bit of a "bull rush"
to go with his "swim" move, which was the best "swim" move
that I've seen from a Rookie in a long time. I'm hopeful.

I agree about trading some players to adquire more picks in the draft. That way we can trade up in the mid rounds.
