Yeah, but until we can block some body before they kill our QB and, running backs none of this makes any sense. Strong lines lead to the playoffs on offense, and defense.
also we cut D Patterson. I really hope we sign him back at a lesser salary. When healthy the guy was great. Maybe he can actually stay healthy next year
glad this means we are not signign J Byrd---way too much $$ for a position that is not one of our top needs

Delmas is an upgrade over Clemons, so another nice move by GM Hickey.
I hope the Dolphins can manage to re-sign Patterson at a more reasonable number. They need a veteran opposite Grimes. I don't think Taylor nor Davis are ready to start, but would like to see both fill the nickel and dime roles. That's the best way for them to learn, and both need to learn as they pretty much washed out their rookie seasons with injuries.

How exactly is Delmas an upgrade over Chris Clemons?
He made a few jarring hits but it looks like it did more damage to him than his opponent.
So we got rid of an injury prone CB for an injury prone FS. Even if Delmas were a better play (he is not), it won't matter if he can't get on the field. Two bad knees. Missed 5 games in 2011 and 8 games in 2012.

I agree, I do like that about Hickey... Ireland always seemed to be a guy players didn't like. Or like how he handled or treated players... Hickey seems like a likable respectful guy from the players perspective... I think that is a good positive change for the front office...

Clemons is probably the most consistent player on our team.. He isn't a stud, a ball hawk, blitzer, or knockout guy.. But he rarely blows his assignment, gets beat and seldom misses tackles... That is why it is hard to value him $ wise...

Beyond that Crowder, I would say he was the leader in the backfield. He was telling guys where to lineup last year and on several occasions, screaming at Reshad Jones...telling him he was in the wrong spot. You could tell he was not happy with Reshad.
Jones REALLY needs to get his act together. He needs some legit competition to push him.
His cap number is only 3.6 mil this year and if we replace him we would take a hit in dead space but his play cannot continue. Especially when his cap hit goes up to 7.76 mil in 2015!
Realistically, if his poor play continues he would be released in 2015 and designated as a June 1st release to spread his hit over two years. It would cost Miami 4.7 mil in 2015 and 2016.
He is one of the highest paid safeties but not performing like one.
