I personally dont think Sherman was fired by Philbin, more than likely that Philbin had a bit of a chin wag with him,Sherman said "im gonna retire but tell them you sacked me and it saves your job and makes you look good joe"...stranger things have happened.
clement was the qb coach we wanted to hire as OC but GB wouldn't allow the interview.
I don't get how GB can just say our coaches are off limits and phibn just abides. i think nfl rules require teams to allow a coach to interview for a job that would be a promotion. mcadoo was TE coach last year and if we wanted to interveiw him for oc GB should have had no choice in the matter
correct me if i am wrong?

You are wrong, i'm pretty sure a team can deny a request as GB did with McAdoo (unless maybe for a HC position?).
Now two other things were in play when we hired Philbin, Clement was promoted to OC when we hired Philbin, so that would of been a lateral move anyway, and it's an unwritten rule that when a coach or front office person leaves GB, he/she doesn't clean the cupboard bare of assistant coaches and such, that's according to Andrew Brandt anyway. That's why nobody from GB came with Philbin and also why nobody followed Reggie McKenzie to Oakland. If I understood it correctly, McAdoo's contract has expired, that's why GB can't block it now.
