Poll
Who wins next Sunday?
Only registered users are allowed to vote for this poll.
20 votes were received.
Carolina 8

40%
Miami 12

60%

We will get a sneak preview tonight and I actually hope they play well and kill the Patriots.

Their defense is playing very well. They held the 49ers to 9 points last week in a one point victory and have won 5 straight games against mostly below average competiton.

They will be on a short week and have to travel to Miami. Possibly our only saving grace (playing at home).

The Homey in me says Phins will win. The realist in me says it's a
toss-up.
We're a middle of the pack team treading water. The Panthers are on the upswing.

Panthers defense is some serious stuff. Certainly not a "toss up" if we play them. We need to bring our A game and the panthers their C game for us to have a shot

Kawaan Short today, Keenan Allen yesterday. I keep telling the Dolphins how to draft and they never accept it.

At least we might catch an over-confident Panthers coming off a win over the Pats. Instead of a pissed off , focused bunch, coming off a loss.
That D looks seriously legit, and Cam is a game planning nightmare.

I'd say we've got a 40% chance to win.

I have no idea how we're going to stop Carolina's offense, and their pass rush. But I hope we can.

*Note, Carolina ALSO has a 'make shift' o-line, not a first round draft pick in the bunch...They even have a ex-defensive tackle playing gaurd.

Except for 8th overall pick, Jordan Gross and while not a first rounder, Ryan Kalil is the highest paid center in the league and a former 2nd round pick.

Travelle Wharton is a 3rd rounder.

Those are 3 of the top linemen in the league and maybe the best left side in the NFL...makeshift??? not exactly.

RG Chris Scott is a 5th rounder and not all that good.
RT Byron Bell is and undrafted guy and not that good either although a starter for several years.

Sione Fua made the switch to OG due to an injury to Scott but has he even played yet? I thought Chandler was 2nd string.

Weak right side....Wake is smelling blood.

Sorry folks, I see us getting blown out now from watching them.

Miami is poor at tackling strong runners. Not only does Carolina have two but Cam himself is a strong runner.

Moreover Cam has a strong accurate arm and accurate on the deep ball as well.

On our offensive side, they have a helluva pass rush as Brady found out.

Brady gets rid of the ball quick. Tanny holds on to it.

There was one game in which I posted on the thread he was (in the beginning of the game only) getting rid of the ball after one two GO!

But like everything else the Coaches probably said, "Okay, enough of that. Keep reading the field for something better."

The Dolphins have already exceeded my expectations by winning the last game, so, another win is something special. (feather in our cap, icing on the cake, gravy....)

While the ragtag O-line faired well against SD, NC seems to be on the rise with there overall play. They are pretty good. My thoughts are these:

If Dimitri Patterson is in the game, I think we have a great chance of turning the tables against NC. If he's out, we can only rely on Grimes to make some magic. Some think this is going to be a runaway game, but it could very well be a defensive struggle. I'll bet on that; no runaway. Here's hoping smileys with beer for some "icing on the cake" this Sunday. smiling smiley

Defensively, the way to beat Newton is to keep him contained and MAKE him throw. He'll have an efficient game or two then turn in to an interception machine. If he makes a mistake or two, he seems to get rattled and start making MORE mistakes. IMO we have the corners to force some of those mistakes. That said, we HAVE the speed at LB to CONTAIN him but not sure we are disciplined and coached well enough to actualy do it. And, as others have pointed out, the tackling has been pretty poor from the LB's.

The WORST thing we can do is let him rip off a couple of big runs...then his passing game seems to pick up considerably. Confidence I guess...HEY PHILBIN WHY DON'T WE TRY THAT WITH TANNEHILL???!!!???

I agree, what concerns me is that Carolina has pretty good pass rush and a stud MLB in Kuechly.. Kuechly was the guy I ultimately wanted us to draft instead of Tannehill on draft day... If we can handle that and keep Newton contained running, I think we have a shot...
Patterson not playing will require more help on that side, which would leave one less guy who could be a spy on Newton or a guy to help in the run game... I would like to see a break out game from Jordan... and have him fill that role... He is fast and can chase down these rb's from the opposite side....

KB is correct, the key is to contain CAM and watch him throw away the game. For some weird reason, his short distance throws are consistently off target but his longer throws are solid. I wish I knew why it happens to him, I am guessing adrenaline or his fight or flight response is very high on the field which might explain his ability to break tackles...and run around so easily.

I think a healthy dose of blitzing random guys will also keep him off balance and get into his head, which seems to be another weak point for him once he loses his cool.

I'm more concerned about stopping the Panther power running game, I hope Solai and Starks are up to the task and that we see some good results the entire DLine in general.
