Rick, I apologize you brought forth something I had mistyped and had not even realized it.
I thought I had said that if they told me they were guilty, I could not put them on the stand and have them testify that they were INNOCENT. That's why you don't want to elicit too many facts from your client when you interview him. If he told you for instance in a shoplifting case at a flea market that he saw the item for the first time and decided to steal it, you cannot put him on the stand and testify that he had brought the item to the flea market.
