After hearing that the Phins kept only 4 WRs, a lot of writers have speculated that in the next few days they will be scooping up another WR that has been cut. I have another theory.
The Dolphins chances at success this year start and end with the success of the offensive line and Ryan Tannehill. If both the o-Line and Tannehill are successful then this could be a very good year. Matt Moore is a one of the best (if not the best) backup QB in the NFL. That said, I don't believe that we are legitimate contenders if we have to call upon Matt Moore to be our starting QB. He is good, but not that good. I feel pretty confident that Philbin and Ireland know this also. I suspect that if Tannehill get's hurt that they would be just as comfortable going with Devlin as they would be going with Moore.
This leads me to think that Moore could be on the trade block. I don't buy into the notion that we will trade a defensive lineman and weaken ourselves at a position of strength. That is not a luxury that we can afford. But trading Moore? Why not? While Moore is more experienced than Devlin, Devlin may actually have a higher upside. That is a gamble worth taking for a team that is very short in the WR department.
Who might be interested in Moore?
The Jets and Bills are prime candidates, but I don't think we would trade a QB in the division. I think the Raiders are logical candidates, and I think Denarius Moore could be a target in the trade. Denarius Moore is a fantastic talent that struggles with inconsistency; to the point that coaches in Oakland have become very frustrated with him. A change of scenery could do wonders for him. Denarius Moore has the skills to blossom into an elite NFL WR. At the same time, Matt Moore would immediately become the best QB on the Raiders roster. He would make their team better and would keep them in enough games to keep fans interested.
Will it happen? I don't know. Will I be happy if it does? Yup.
The WR corps is dangerously thin. If we lose just one WR, we would be no better off then last year. Even with everyone healthy, we definitely need another guy that can produce.
I don't think I have ever heard of a team going into the season with just 4 WRs.

No and I don't think we will either. I look for a FA signing very soon. McNutt is on the practice squad too so we may have him in case we need him if nobody else signs him to the active 53.
Does he have more trade value than any bench player on the team? I think so
Do we desperately need help at other positions? Yes, I think WR is one. I could see o-line also; but I think it would be challenging to get an impact o-lineman in a trade.
Sorry you don't get rid of your depth at the most important position for a back up at the deepest position. Tanny goes down moore can keep us in the game.

If tanny goes down the season is over.........If he goes down we gotta stink the rest of the year and draft higher.
Don't worry one day we will get it right!
PS...Whats moore going to do for us? Win a couple of more games miss the playoffs and draft lower in every round?
When THill went down last season Moore came in cold off the bench and rallied the team to the BEST COMPLETE GAME OF THE SEASON.
He might not impress in pre-season, he never has but, when called upon, he delivers. The "IT" shows up.
If Tanny goes down in the first game I have no doubts that Moore can lead the team to the play-offs. Let's quit this talk of tanking the season before the season has even begun.

That's what they said in 72' when Greasie went down with a broken Leg. Sometimes a QB just needs a few downs, maybe a game off. You don't mess with your most important position. I'm glad to see a coaching staff that FINALLY that recognizes it.
SamSam has never respected, let alone, liked Moore. I don't know what he has against him.
Moore is a good back up to have but of course if we can get something valuable in a trade, it should be done but, on the other hand, just getting rid of him for lower than a 4th rounder would be foolish because QB is a very critical position and if any position warrants at least three deep, it's QB.
Great Analogy to Griese and Morrall, Treasure. I was biting my nails and me the big Griese Purdue fan was against Shula's decision to bring Bob to start in the SuperBowl.

First of all you continue to say things that aren't true. Don't put words in my mouth that i haven't said. You need to learn how to do that!
Second i respect Matt Moore. Its just that with tannehill we have a chance of been great. Matt Moore is nothing but a backup.

He took the Broncos to the same place Peyton Manning did last year. Just saying..........The raiders should sign Tbow. Or the Jags.

Just read your next few posts after this one. Hell, just read what you write next below.

Apparently, the Greise Morrall story was lost on you.

No one ever gave Tbow a chance. The Broncos were forced to and he almost took them all the way. The Broncos dumped him for a hotter girlfriend and why he went to the Jets and not a Team where he could compete is beyond me. Same with the Pats. He needs to go to a Team where he has a shot. The guy is a proven winner. At the NFL level as well. For you to say he can't play is just grossly ignorant.

I disagree. When he shows that he can play in the NFL let me know TCPF.
BTW i really like the jets brady quinn signing. He is another Tebow. Another bust.

That is a stretch. He won one wildcard game at home in OT THEN GOT CRUSHED in the divisional round on the road. He didn't even "almost " get to the conference championship let alone go all the way.

Bud, he sucks. It's not really any more complicated than that.

I have to disagree TCPF. A 45% career completion % is what says he can't play at the NFL level, even as a 3rd stringer.
