I noticed that we didn't really draft a DT or a safety. We traded Bess (not a big fan of that, but oh well, that's the NFL), we will probably release a CB (maybe 2), and we might save some money if Carpenter is released.
We have plenty of caproom right now, and we will have even more by the time July 1 rolls around. So we are freeing up money, and don't really have anybody to spend it on. A good chunk might go toward Albert or a smaller chunk might go to a guy like Winston. The draft picks are pretty well accounted for, but I see another use for this cap space.
Much has been made of Starks not reporting for the voluntary workouts, to me this is a good thing. He wants to be a long-term Dolphin. I think he will be signed to longer-term (more cap-friendly) deal now that the draft is over. Which could free up even more money.
I think we use this extra cap space to sign Soliai and/or Reshad Jones to an extension this summer.
So I predict one or two of our key free agents will be locked-in before they hit the market next year.
It's possible Ireland didn't draft a DT or a S because he's worried about other positions, but I just found it odd. Anyways, that's my prediction, guess we'll see.

Our last pick was a safety but S and DT aren't really needs for this season. They will have to be addressed next year.
Best part about all our cap room is that there will be other veterans that get cut loose in the next week or two as teams have drafted players to replace them.
Maybe we get lucky.
First things first...lets go sign Winston or Clabo to play RT and we can go from there.
I'm not really counting on a 7th rounder to replace a pro bowl safety, but stranger things have happened. Like I said, I just found it interesting, guess we'll see what happens.
We still have to find some sort of OT solution. There were a lot of OL drafted in the early rounds, so maybe we get lucky with a player being released, like Truth said.

I think that sentiment plays out for all 31 teams that don't win the SB......

Yeah, but he missed the point.
S and DT aren't needs this year because we have good players in those positions who are in the last year of their contract. We can address those positions by re-signing them or by drafting replacements next year.
That's the way the business is. You have different needs every year because players get hurt, they retire, they leave in FA or you cut them. Every team has needs every year. Very few of them are able to address them all in the same off-season. Especially those who are in the middle of flipping their rosters over for new coaches and new systems.

He's not feeding the troll, Truth. berk is acting like a sane person. He is asking a sane question. However, with DK, it's just like that line out of "Doctor Strangelove" where the General went crazy and launched a nuclear attack against the Soviet Union and ended the note in which he left before committing suicide in hoping that we would all "stay strong in our precious bodily fluids."
The experts said, "We're still trying to figure out what he meant by that last phrase."
The President said, "There's nothing to figure out. The man is crazy."
That is the answer to berk. Not that berk is unconsciously feeding the troll but berk is trying to make sense out of a medical condition.
