JT Return to Miami

Article in Sun sentinel - regarding talk of JT wanting to come back to end his career in Miami. I would be surprised if Parcels would take him back ... but if the price were right, BP is a business man and he might have enough to play another year or so. I don't see him getting any where near what he is getting now though.

*****

Sun Sentinel; As for the rumors on Jason Taylor wanting to finish his career in Miami after the Redskins probably ask him to take a significant paycut from his scheduled $8.5 million, it doesn’t make much sense. Parcells isn’t very sentimental and JT is coming off an injury-plagued, non-productive season in a system that he didn’t fit in. It’s not going to happen. What’s more likely is that he and/or Zach Thomas will get re-signed for one of those ceremonial retirement deals in the next year or two. Thomas will probably find a taker out there. He had a decent season for the Cowboys.

I think the answer would be no... even if it was for league minimum.

He undermined the leadership last off season, and one of the big key for this coaching staff is having everyone on the same page and playing as a TEAM. JT doesn't have that mindset anymore... and there are still guys on this roster that could see him as a "leader," and I don't think the coaching staff would want him in the locker room.

He had his chance to finish his career as a Dolphin and decided he wanted to be a prima donna and go play for a "contender" and look for work in Hollywood instead. Its sad, because he is still one of my all-time favorite Dolphins, but that era has passed.

I don't see him retiring after the down year he had in Washington. He, himself said he was not worth 8 millions a year in 08. I'm sure he wants to go out better than that.

No way he ends up in Miami.

The Redskins deserve the production they got from him for being stupid and playing him on the strong side so Andre Carter could play Rush End. Stupid! Carter had 4 lousy sacks.

Surely they will want a draft pick for JT but they will never get a 2nd rounder....if they could get anything...probably nothing for a one year player.

Jim Bates is the Defensive coordinator in Tampa....but they don't need a DE.

Maybe he and Zach could reunite somewhere....maybe Jacksonville..ZT could play for the coach that he retired as a player.

League Minimum and he MUST show up at every OTA.

If he doesn't, cut him. Got no need for an old OLB/DE on the downside of his career who is also gonna act like a prima-donna

Perhaps if he walked into Parcell's office on his knees it might happen. I, actually, think he would be disruptive and may hurt our chemistry. Also, in a 3-4 he'd be playing OLB opposite Porter. I'm not sure that's the best position for him, but he is NOT a DE in a 3-4.

Situational pass rusher and the league minnimum salary. $30,000.00 bonus for each sack he gets. I'd take him back under those terms.

Zach, I'd also bring back but only for depth and with the condition that he try his hand at being an Player/assistant LB coach.

No thanks. He jumped off the train. No jumping back on. We got something good going, he thought we were still "rebuilding", which means he thought we would be something like 4-12. So, he thought he was too good for us, and now we know we are to good for him.

Hope you had fun while it lasted Jason. But your time in Miami is looong over with.

The goodbyes have already been said. This is a new team and a new regime. The new regime has absolutely no sentimentality towards Jason Taylor. His Dolphins career is over.

There is an awful lot of fence-mending that would have to take place for the Dolphins to bring back JT. Would he be an upgrade over Roth at OLB? Sure. But at what price?

Not a chance, the Skins are stuck with him kinda like we are with Wilford.

That won't mean much when we cut Wilford this offseason.

Skins' fans will rejoice when JT leaves, many think BP is a genius for getting rid of him. JT gets little sympathy if any at all from them even though he was injured.

If I had a choice of any player that the Skins' have on their roster to be on our team instead, it would be Colt Brennan. I predict he'll be their future starting QB and a good one at that when he gets his chance.

I am pretty sure he did not sign an extension...which is why he was referring to himself as not being worth 8 mil which is what he would have made in Miami.

Been out for a couple weeks, some interesting comments.

I tend to agree with most of the sentiment in that we got top value for him and he burn bridges in a way that makes it hard to see him coming back for much more than a song.

- He'll be cut (salary cap hit) and the skins will probably get zip in trade.

- Even at minimum to the fins, the locker room thing is a real concern, he had the cahnce to be the guy and didn't want it ... in effect expressing no confindence in the team and its coaching staff.

Funny how things turn out some times.

For some reason i believe that he was going to play for the skins for the 2008 and 2009 season. I dont remember if he was under a 2 year contract with us or it would expire after 2008.

JT made a bad decision in wanting out and DWTS but you can't blame him for thinking the Dolphins were rebuilding AGAIN plus Zach was fired. Who knew we would win the division right?

I have to believe that if Porter got 19.5 sacks playing WOLB then JT probably would have broken the sack record last year...plus he would of had more turnovers and been better vs the run...plus he would have benefited from playing opposite Joey.

Eesti you seem sold on making excuses for JT. My sentiment is more so for how he left than the choice (good or bad).

As to "here we go again comment" ... like a broken record the ecuses for JT go on and on.

JT (IMHO) jumped ship and went out with a nose thumb manner with his I'll play a year in miami but two anywhere else.

Why couldn't JT produce like that for the skins, they had a much more vaunted defense at year's start.

I choose to give the FINS coaching staff and Porter credit for the success in miami.

I REALLY don't want to get into this AGAIN but you called me out so I will oblige you...

You seem sold on turning your back on one of the best players in Dolphins history and ignoring the fact that BP's (known liar) wanted him out from the beginning and refused to even acknowledge his presence. You also ignore the fact that BP said he would not trade JT then tried to move him during the draft....long before JT said anything about how long he would play.

> As to "here we go again comment" ... like a broken
> record the ecuses for JT go on and on.

My point exactly but you have it a little backwards. You can't just say...we got a good deal for JT and move on...you gotta bash him every time you get a chance. Then you have to stir it up all over again with this thread talking about JT coming back to play in Miami when it will NEVER happen. and where is this mysterious article where JT says he wants to come back anyway? Of course he is going to retire asa a Dolphin but that does not mean he wants to come back and play.

> JT (IMHO) jumped ship and went out with a nose
> thumb manner with his I'll play a year in miami

Show me anywhere in any legit publication where he was quoted saying that. You want to twist things around to suit your opinion.

What he said was... "Do I want to be here? Yeah, I'd love to be here,"I would love to be a Dolphin and win games and have it work out for everybody. But that may not be the case." He denied widespread reports suggesting his side has demanded a trade, but finally acknowledged what has been suspected for weeks: If Miami wants to move him, he won't argue. "I want to win in '08. That's what I want to do," Taylor said. "And I've told the Dolphins from Day 1 that was my intention. My intentions right now are to play one more year. I've tried to give the Dolphins the opportunity, if they wanted to do something and move me, then I was OK with that. If they can get value for me, then do that. That was the conversation we had behind closed doors a long time ago." -ESPN

Because the morons put him on the strong side. You know...the same position where Porter stunk it up here in Miami with 5.5 sacks. Matt Roth in his first year at LB got 5 sacks at that same position and JT got 3.5 sacks (in 13 games) but played injured all year because they played him in a preseason game. Brilliant! Andre Carter got 4 lousy sacks as the teams designated pass rusher! One half sack more than JT.

Why on earth would you pick Andre Carter and his 6.5 sacks per season over a guy you traded a 2nd round pick for...to be a your designated pass rusher? Puhlease! Just plain stupidity!

> I choose to give the FINS coaching staff and

Who is saying otherwise? Not me. I love this staff but am still leery of BP. He is a GREAT football mind but that does not mean he won't high tail it out of town with his 12 million after the first disagreement with the new owner and go work for Buffalo. Will you still love him then?

You want to give Porter credit for all of his two years of service and turn your back on JT after doing everything right for 11 years and being the face of the franchise and a true class act. You don't see JT out partying in a casino ganging up on Levi Jones with 5 of his buddies because he doesn't have the balls to do it one on one! You never saw JT getting stupid and costly unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and running his mouth in the media and calling out other players. Sure it is entertaining at times but that doesn't make it good entertainment.
