A couple more thoughts.

Austin will very likely put on additional muscle as a pro. That happens quite often.

Steve Smith has missed a total of 8 games in the last 8 years combined. He also has about 9000 receiving yards and 53 TDs in those 8 years.

Welker has missed a total of 3 games in the last 8 years. I won't torment you with his stats, but everyone knows how great he has been.

Based on performance, both of those guys would be worth a high first round pick in any draft. If Austin can do what these guys have done, he is worth a high first round pick also.

Playing the slot in the NFL you get hit, Austin rarely got hit in college from what I have seen.. He always ran out of bounds to avoid contact or spun off guys. Slot WRs in the NFL dont get to run out of bounds very often. I dont think it works out well for him.. Wes Welker and Steve Smith are 2 of the toughest guys in the NFL. Do you remember the type of hits Welker use to take in Miami, and bounce up... Yet being 2 of the toughest guys in the NFL, both Smith and Welker have had serious injuries, from knees, ankles to concussions... What makes those guys elite is their toughness above all else, without that neither of them would be sh*t in the NFL IMO... Is Austin that type of guy? to me it doesn't appear so..

Best Blocking TE in the Draft is Justice Cunningham, 6-4, 270, USC without a doubt and catches everything.

Pat White rushed for 4,480 yards in college.. The most ever for any QB in the history of college football... Never had injury problems, playing for the same alumni as Austin... Do you know how many yards he was able to rush for in the NFL before he took an injury that knocked him out of the NFL......81 yards.... There is a big difference between playing at WVU and playing in the NFL... The odds are drastically against Austin lasting...

pretty sure there is no way we are going to take austin anyway
look for OL, CB, or pass rusher at 12

If we have any sense.

If Tavon Austin is such a play making threat at WR, why did he score half as many td's and fewer yards than Stedman Bailey? They both had the same number of receptions in 2012.

Senior year....

Austin 114/1289/12 11.3 avg
Bailey 114/1622/25 14.2 avg

Career....3 years for bailey, 4 years for Austin

Austin 288/3413/29 11.9 avg
Bailey 210/3218/41 15.3 avg

4.3 speed and 11.9 pards per reception? That's what Davone Bess gets in the NFL.

Tavon had 1000 rushing yards & 6 td's (over 3 years) as well but that's not happening at the next level.

Actually, Bess averages 10.7 yards per catch, but if you are going to compare the two...lets not leave out the fact that Bess has 12 career TD's in 4 years vs the 40 that Austin has posted.

Bess also averaged 12.8 in 2012. He also averaged almost 14 td's a year in college and a 12.3 avg....but ok, probably not a good comparison since one is in college and the other in the pros....

And Qb has a lot to do with it.

And so does the fact that Austin draws a lot of attention which benefits the slower Bailey.

You can argue it any way really.

I see OL, DB, or pass rusher. would not be horribly upset if a stud LB were there either.
