I would be interested if only to stick it to my Bronco loving brother, who still insists that Denver beat Miami in the pursuit of Manning, even though I honestly believe that we did nothing more than interview him to appease the fans.

Manning only agreed to interview with us because Ross had Dan Marino ask him as a favor. We were never a real contender to land him.
I know that, but I doubt we really even wanted him to begin with, were on a youth movement, and an aging quarterback known for choking come playoff time doesn't really fit our plans.

Oh, I think Ross wanted him. The man is desperate to sell some tickets!
I cant deny that Ross wanted him for ticket sales, but I can't get myself to believe that Philbin or Ireland really wanted him, with his percieved fragility and really only 3-4 good years left in him at best.
I think that Sherman pretty much had Philbin sold on Tannehill from day 1 when he walked in, and drafting Tannehill and signing Manning would have been more or less a waste of a pick.
In thinking I bet his agent was stringing this out
Knowing if the deadline passed he was owed $12m. Broncos
Watching the clock and couldn't let this happen
IMO I feel like Dumervil will inevitably end up back in denver, but should they not be able to kiss and make up, he will be chasing maximum money, and I dont want to overpay for him, as much as I would love to have him (partially for reasons listed above) I absolutely do not want to overspend.
I would rather see us shore up our CB situation a little bit first, then see what the draft brings us.
supposedly he wants to play for us. not sure if he is a good fit in the 4-3 at end. anyone know? he'd get paid more than Cam Wake which could be a problem.

we signed for cam for about the same money as hartline got. he got a really team friendly contract. good one ireland.
amazing at the time it seemed like a lot of money. with all this talk of a "flat" cap and dried up FA market it amazing how much guys like hartline and jared cook got paid this offseason.

He'd be a GREAT fit as a 4/3 end.
He's a little short for the ideal model for the position. He's more in the Dwight Freeney mold.
i'd sign him for wake $$ in a second, but the 8mm he was going to get from DEN is more than wake's $$, and no way he signs for less then the deal he was offered (which was a pay cut)

I would find it really hard to believe that Jeff Ireland, who learned a lot from Bill Parcells, would go after a 5'11 DE.
From PFF:
In 2009, as a 3-4 OLB, Dumervil had a -0.2 overall grade, 14th overall at the position. He was a +14.6 as a pass rusher, and a -13.2 as a run defender.
In 2011, as a 4-3 DE, he had a +1.9 overall grade, 30th at the position. He was a -2.3 as a pass rusher, and a +3.2 as a run defender.
In 2012, as a 4-3 DE, he had a -4.4 overall grade, 44th at the position. He was a +3.9 as a pass rusher, and a -6.1 as a run defender.
It sure looks like the 4-3 defense has not been good for him.
