There is hope in Miami if a team like the Vikings can go from mediocre nobodies to SB contender in about 2 years but the key over there like it is with the existing SB Champ is defense. I don't know why our defense has been neglected for so long. Maybe it doesn't sell the individual player shirts but a solid defense is fundamental to a good Dolphins brand. Our glory years in the 70s were built on that great defense and even parts of the early 80s success were constructed on a hard-hitting, disciplined defense. I miss that so much. Where are you Don Shula?
Dolphins collecting to many pieces that don't connect. Injuries (Albert, Jenkins, Pouncey, Wake, Cameron lotta salary tied up there too), stagnant development (Tanne, Thomas, Misi, Philips Parker) subprime performance at to many important units (qb, DE, lb, cb, ol hell everywhere). We gotta lot of problems and no immediate answers. Dolphins have to face it they are not a competitive team and need to come up w/ a 2/3 year rebuilding plan. Keep collecting the same garbage and we are going to stay at the bottom of the afc east.
That's what the vikings did. Collected olinemen, built their defense acquired, a qb and when the qb went down deftly acquired another one. They had a mission and did not skip a beat carrying it out. We bypassed on quite a few of the players that they acquired in the draft and free agency.
yep and the Vikings get our 3 and 4th rnd picks in 2017 which are going to be pretty high picks. We need a front office that can sucker teams out of their picks instead of being suckered.
we all know the sad truth: the team needs to be built from within with a good core of real football guys- not the flimsy types the have been chosen over the past few decades.
the one exception to our horrible drafts is 2012. That draft was pretty solid under Ireland.
Sad fact: The Dolphins have not drafted one "superstar player" since Patrick Surtain in 1999!
Should we all collect money somehow to send Ross to Mars on the next test flight?

I'd say the one player since Surtain that has been drafted with superstar potential is Jarvis Landry who, incidentally, was drafted by Dennis Hickey who was then promptly removed for Mike "The Sanchize" Tannebaum.
