That's 8 guys. Add in Joekel its 9. If we get lucky and 2 QB's get picked in the top 11 then we get one of the guys in your next group.

From my perspective...I'm not interested in the WR's (Allen or Patterson). Not interested in Vaccaro...I think there are a BUNCH of safety's in this draft and he's just not that special.
Not a Barkevious Mingo fan at all.
Not interested in Banks at #12. The only CB in this daft I've seen that I really want us to draft is Jordan Poyer from Oregon St.
Could live with Ansah, Jordan, Cooper or the other LSU DE...Sam Montgomery at #12.

He's an interesting option also. Played QB, then TE, now an OT. Good potential. I still think Fisher is the best OT in this draft but Johnson looks like a player I could live with.
I'm not interested in Vaccaro either. Some are making him out to be this great playmaker but 5 int's in 4 years is not what I would call play making. He looks like a late 1st or 2nd rounder to me.
I have questions about Dion Jordan's weight and how he would hold up as a 43 DE....and about both of their production. He may need to season a few years.
Some say Jordan wasn't allowed to rush the QB as much as he should have while he was dropped in coverage but he is still listed between 235 and 240 lbs. Jason Taylor pulled it off but not many others have. He may need to bulk up but then does he still have the quickness? Too many questions for a high pick.
Why did Ansah only produce 4.5 sacks? He reminds me too much of the situation when Amobi Okoye came into the league. I don't like these boom or bust workout warrior projects that high in the draft.

Ansah only produced 4.5 sacks because its his 1st year as a starter and he's only been playing football for 2+ years. His closing speed is insane for a guy his size. When he learns the moves and how to set up offensive lineman he's going to be unblockable.
Any guy we take at 12 is very likely to have warts and be somewhat or a project. Its just that kind of draft.
If you want safe, take an O-lineman. While their ceiling is projected as much as any other, their floor is far more easy to determine than any other position.
Frankly, there isn't a prospect in this draft that you couldn't say: "well I don't like X, Y or Z and/or he seems to be too much of a project for the 12th pick."

Yes you are correct. Just from my personal standpoint, if I'm going to "project" what a player may do I would lean toward one that has produced at a high level. He may not have the initial skill set to contribute right away but at least you are eliminating one set of attributes. Like having to identify why this player did not produce even though he is considered to have an elite skill set. (Vernon Gholston, Amobe Okoye, Aaron Maybin, Darrius Heyward-Bey, etc). That is a huge red flag IMO. At minimum it is a question that has to be answered.
That's why I like Eifert and Terrence Williams.
But like you said earlier, one of the top tier players is bound to drop to us so we may not even have to worry about it when the time comes.
I know Ireland still likes to stick to his "draft principles". Like when he said a QB should have 30 starts. Obviously he varied from that with Tannehill but I don't know that he would do it all that often in the first round.
I do think offensive and defensive lines are the "safe" picks this year. I would love to get Sharrif Floyd at 12 and then go TE and WR in the 2nd round. Assuming we don't resign Starks.
I don't see it since it would mean we neglected the position (two spots) in FA and are gambling on getting the player we want in the draft. Same goes for OT although they could have several OT and DT players rated with similar grades in the first round.
