Well since nobody else has mentioned it in the post game pity party...

Odds are we have lost Cameron Wake for the rest of the season.

Who is going to step up?

Wake is all we have on defense...>When he plays well we win...

Expect no pass rush the rest of the way if he is out.

We need to lose everygame left and pick high in the draft.

I am crossing my fingers it isn't ruptured.

Wake is a competitor, even after he clearly hurting his leg, he still tried a couple more time to rush Brady. Grimes did that a month ago when he hurt his knee as well trying to makin a tackle after coming up lame. Wake will be missed.

He made no difference in the Pats game. Neither did Suh.

Not good news. Wake is done for the year. He is also 34 next year and Achilles injuries are hard to come back from. This could be the end of his productive years.

I've seen Olivier Vernon rush the passer. I've seen Cam Wake rush the passer. Oliver Vernon is no Cam Wake.

You need many components to make a great defense, or offense for that matter too.

We had two monsters rushing the passer. One monster got hurt. Easy explanation.

You are assuming that someone can/will step up. I'm not so certain, however I am interested in what we will see out of Chris McCain now that he was switched to DE.

The real meat to this story is do we keep Wake past this season. If I were the GM, I'd give the man a chance and not make any rash decisions based on outside opinions about his injury and age. Wake is a fighter, he came into the NFL the hard way. He won't go out easily.

Understand what you guys are saying, but he comes at a pretty hefty price tag next season.

Miami will probably let him test the water, or see how his replacement(s) do this year.

His value shouldn't be sky high coming of a torn ACL because that could have a permanent affect on his performance, and any team in their right mind would be cautious.

Too bad Dion Jordan was such a bust, and moving up to #3 to get him was completely asinine. This could have been his opportunity to step up. Goes to show the quality of players we get from whoever it is that scouts for this team. And then you have a team like NE who can draft nobodies for backups and develop them into players that outperform our starters before the season even starts. This where their organization is light years ahead of our team - scouting, player acquisition, and player development.

At best, at this point the only thing that this team is capable of doing in Wake's absence is to create some blitz packages to create some pressure on opposing QB's. But does this team even have the smarts to try that avenue? I guess we'll find out the next time we see them play.
