must be a bad feeling to be a 49er fan right now. That team is disintegrating rapidly, maybe Borland's decision had partly to do with his perceived quality of the roster and coaching staff going down the tubes...kind of like what happened to us and Ricky Williams.
The guy made a million dollars last year and was scheduled to make 500k this year with California level bills. It was a bold move. I hope he saved his money and can make a living as a history major!

He'll make more money touring the country talking about football head injuries. Don't be surprised if you find him representing a cause for more rule changes. He's not just going to disappear. Trust me.
I had 4 major concussions coming out of high school from football playing for a state playoff caliber 6A school. I understand this guys decision. The hits only get worse the higher you go, and i'm sure he got his bell rung quite a few times in his rookie year. He was scared for his health and made a brave, unpopular decision. Nobody wants to be like Ali when they turn 60.
Borland new the risks when he was drafted. I think Victor is right. The guy will be the face of the player safety movement and will make much more than if he played.
IMO he quit. You have to have a career before you retire. 1 season doesn't make a career.
