What number are you ok keeping Ellerbe at for the year? He has roughly 10 million dollar cap hit with 4.2 million in dead money if we cut him.. Not sure what happens with the June 1st designations savings on him..

ellerbe is worth about 2-3 mm for a year.

God...I hope not.

From my understanding, the only reason he hasn't been cut is because the FO is waiting on the offer sheet for Charles Clay. They do not know if they need the Ellerbe savings now or can wait until June if they designate him as a post June release. it's a difference of 3 mil.

That's what i read as well. Him not being cut yet doesn't mean he isn't being cut, just means FO is waiting for all the dominoes to fall in place first.

Maybe ellerbe plays better with a better pass rush in front of him....

Just saw your answer (above) Joe. I asked why he was still on the team in a different thread.

One more....if Wallace or Ellerbe are CUT the guaranteed $ Miami owes them does have offset language, so what a new team pays them comes out

@OmarKelly

And this will flip your wig. Dannell Ellerbe has $3M of his 2015 base salary GUARANTEED already for INJURY. He's hurt. IT'S ON THE BOOKS

WTH is going on?

I can live w/ Ellerbe but if he stays Misi has to go. You have to think that Ellerbe will be better w/ Suh playing in front of him. Misi needs a compass and a map to find the ball carrier.

They both need to go. Time to move on from the guys who keep getting us to back to square 1.

It's bad enough they resigned Kelvin Shepperd.

Time to let someone else give it a shot. Tripp, Jenkins, Jordan, Knott, McCain and a rookie

If Ellerbe is staying then we aren't drafting a LB unless some guy drops two rounds and he's the best player on our board by a country mile.

Frankly, I'm ok with this.

I want to see what I have in Tripp and McCain before I invest heavily in drafting a LB.

I know Misi gets a bad rap, but if we use him or even ellerbe at MLB they will look much better this year with Suh in front of them.

They aren't a long term solution but I can live with that group for another year.

Lets use the draft to finish off the offense. Get a RB, 2 WR and 2 olineman that can contribute. We can fix the defense next year when we have a better idea of which young players panned out and which ones didn't from the group of Taylor, Davis, Aiken, Tripp, McCain, Johnson Francis, etc.

Cutting Ellerbe would create $5.65 million in cap space, and $8.45 million if he were designated a June 1 cut. But if Ellerbe isn't signed by another team for $3 million or more team owner Steve Ross would be on the hook for the difference. - Sentinel

I disagree if Ellerbe stays and im only seeing this because of salary issues and we drop Misi I think LB is still a high priority in the draft for us. We have to get some above average quality in that position. I would drop from the 14 spot to 20-24 and go for McKinney.
