I'd let Odrick walk. Not sure the urgency to resign him.

Like Hartline we have seen this guy's best let's move on from him. Its time for guys to sh** or get off the pot.

Wheeler bye
Ellerbe bye
Misi bye bye although he has his fan club in MIA

We have to add some new talent and upgrade all 3 spots IMO. Starks is a week away at the most, from being released. He can take Mitchell with him right after someone removes Kevin Coyle's head from his ass.

Whoa not getting rid of my entire defensive tackle rotation from 2014 unless we are binging in Suh. I would chop Starks & not resign Odrick if we are drafting a DT at #1. No way in hell am I dropping Mitchell. Our Dline productivity dropped for each player in 2014. Wake got more sacks but the D front 7 stunk. That was more on schemes than individuals. You wrote a thesis on Hartlines decline being about him being misused. This is an entire units decline. Odrick like Wallace got pissed off about the Ds situation in 2014.

Starks will be like TMac in Seattle a smart team will grab him and I hope he plays for a super bowl ring he deserves it. The guy is good sucky year
and he still got 4.5 sacks. That's more career sacks the Fairley.

The whole thing is a mystery to me but I hope the coaches have an answer. Why were we top 5 rush defense up until week 12? Surely not every DT fell off at the same time? Why did they all suck weeks 11,12 & 13? Teams figured them out? figured the scheme out?

Was it scheme related? There is some evidence to that based on the Odrick spat.

We need run stoppers, IMO. Starks may have gotten 4.5 sacks but he was run over repeatedly.

It is risky to turnover the entire unit...I agree.

I don't think Mitchell is any more than a rotational player who needs to play next to a big run stuffer to be effective. He is the 17th highest paid DT in the league but not close to the 17th best.

Starks was a top DT and only got 5 mil a year (avg). Why pay Mitchell 4 mil per year (avg)?

What's the use of getting rid of the vets and keeping a player who has been in the system only one year ? Is keeping only him really any benefit?

There are reasons to get rid of every one of them for different reasons....

Odrick: Possibly too much money for a guy who is a natural 3-4 DE and not great in any area.

Starks: age/money

Mitchell: level of play. I didn't see much impact from him last year and I was looking.

Mitchell may be ok if we put him next to Dan Williams but here's another problem....snap counts.

Odrick played 273 more snaps than any other DT in Miami last year. Not many DT's play that many snaps. That was 3rd most in the league. Now we have to replace that. We need roughly 1900 snaps from our DT's. Mitchell and Starks accounted for about 1080. The 450 we got from Earl was about his average.

If my DT is only contributing 450 snaps then he needs to be the two down run stuffer like Willams....not a tweener like Mitchell.

Doesn't seem to be any easy answers here.

Right no easy answers but we have to find some.

I would like to draft the kid from Texas at #1 to play the nose guard. I liked Johnson at LSU looks like he is doing the right things this off season Im hopping he steps up. He was projected a late 1st to 2nd rounder last year. Kid liked the weed and was bypassed in last years draft. The kid from CAL (Coleman) has talent too. he was rated as high as the 3rd round but the kid is deaf takes some time to work with. The staff is supposed to be high on Francis.

We have a lot of young kids w/ talent that its time to see what they can do. Dion Jordan, Turner, Fedi, Jenkins, McCain, Gillislee, Fede, Sims, Lynch, Tripp. All were solid in college. No way can all of these guys be busts.

I like Malcomb Brown a lot....but we still need a one technique. Put Brown with Dan Williams or Pot roast and we will be improved.

Assuming, Brown can contribute right away.
