Who's the last great QB anyone can remember who was a party guy and not a guy who ate, slept and drank football in the film room?

This kid might have some great moments but unless he changes his ways he's a trainwreck waiting to happen.

Marino was supposed to have been a party animal in college. That's why he dropped to us. Thankfully social media didn't exist making every move a huge tweet.and he had a guy like Don Shula to keep him striaght .

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Hmm. I can remember another QB in the past who was arrogant, fell in the draft, and was picked up by Cleveland. His name was Brady Quinn. I remember his "surprise" when the Phins didn't take him. For once, it was a good move by us to pass on him. I foresee the same for Johnny Football.

I'll bet you also remember many Dolphins fans being 'surprised'....and by 'surprised' I mean extremely pissed off, that we didn't take him.

We dodged a bullet with Quinn.

You may be right in that Marino was a party animal in college, but I am almost positive he dropped to Miami because of "rumored" drug use. It's also been speculated that Shula may have put that rumor out there. LOL.

Quinn would not had accomplished jack with the phins...

You mean to tell me youd give up those two long returns by ginn......and that win against the jets...? 2 bombs in one game by ginn.

I would not!

________________________________________________________

Im no hypocrite..........i wanted quinn at that time because we were in great need of a qb.......But if i had to do all over again and pick between quinn and ginn id pick ginn all day.

Meaning i dont regret how it turned out.

PS. And i know you hate the jets just like i do.

I remember that draft like it was yesterday.

Nobody thought Quinn was going to fall to #9. I was in favor of taking the young DT from Louisville, amobi okoye.
But when Quinn fell to us I was excited about FINALLY spending a 1st round pick on a qb. I wasn't a big fan of his but we needed to take a shot on finding a franchise QB instead of drafting a "special" (in the short bus sense of the term) teamer.

I was pretty pissed we passed on Quinn and okoye for Ginn and his family.

2007 we should have taken Patrick Willis. He would have been the perfect Zach replacement

I just remember be incensed , I mean off the walls pissed off, because us as a team so clearly in need of a QB , picked a Punt returner with the #9 pick. And it played out over and over how we ignored the position for over a decade. Doesn't matter that Quinn failed elsewhere. At that time and place with the #9 pick we had no cause whatsoever to go punt returner. I've said it before and I'll say it again......Its OK to go to bat and strike out swinging. We never even made it to the plate.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

You forget. We didn't just draft a punt returner. We drafted HIS WHOLE FAMILY! spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

But you guys also have to remember that Ginn was only the first shot at what was to be a complete and total remake of the roster. One that would have been all about game breaking speed everywhere on the field. A vision of a team that no one could cover because of that over the top speed.

That said, I too was pissed we didn't take Quinn because he's the guy I wanted at the time...at the time he was the logical choice. If I had to do it all over again, without the benefit of hindsight. I take Quinn.

I share the same sentiments as you. Always felt the QB position as one of neglect by this team for so long. You would think that losing Marino to retirement that there would be a sense of urgency to find the next HOF caliber player. Especially knowing that this dude pretty much carried the team throughout his entire career and how important he was.

I did not want either of them, and of course was correct.

Right!? I was like WTF? Jimmy Johnson failed in that respect and he admitted it. Then every coach afterward just picked up useless 3rd stringers and tried to make them "workable". What a horrible decade and to add insult to injury , The Pats were killing the competition. What the hell was wrong with all the staff? Even Bill Fatcells. God that was frustrating. Tanny will bring us honor and respect back.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Hmm..what's in one of those... Creme de Cacao, Irish Cream, and Frangelico I think.

nah, it's still alcohol. He should still stay away from snickers.

Not trying to belittle alcoholism, just re-living my days when I used to drink with a sweet tooth.
