He does have a point, but the QB still has to go out and play well and Tannehill has done that. Lets hope these games build his confidence cause the next 2 teams have way better defensive lines.

So what you are saying, dolphin, is that Miami's OLine has to do their job and protect RT and open up holes for the running game?

I'm saying that passing like crazy against weak defenses is not something to get over excited about.

Lets see what they do against a really good defensive front.

If the Dolphins dominate this next week, then feel free to crazy talk.

Because of the Chargers OFFENSE!

The Charges defense give up a 97 rating. That is 25th in the league. That means they ARE not good defending the pass.

The Chargers defense is 22nd in sacks,,,, again not good.

But you can keep pretending if you wish.

This is why people think you are a troll.

San Diego is 11th in the league in total defense and 7th in the league in scoring going into this week.

If you can't take something positive from lighting up a top ten defense then what are you looking for as a sign of progress?

Is this team the best in the league? Nope. Is RT the top qb? Not by a long shot.

But you are the only one who consistently trys to take them both down a peg. When you should be acknowledging the improvement against a quality opponent you are instead quite predictably underselling their performance because the defense wasn't good enough.

Just how many times a year do you think we'll play a defense ranked higher than 7th in points allowed?

Guys, arguing over this win doesn't make sense to me. You take you opponent the way they are on game day. If they are missing personnel, are the walking wounded and you are not, so be it. If the defense has it together and we put it to them offensively and defensively that a great thing. Kick back and enjoy the victory. When winning happens repeatedly we'll know just how good they are.

Whether Omar Kelly believes Tannehill is a bust or not makes little difference. The fact remains, that Tannehill was on a roll against SD and did more than enough to win the game. Then add in the strong game by our defense that rattled Rivers, great accomplishment. Most importantly the SD rout is not a true indication of just how good the Dolphins are. The Jeykll and Hyde thing could raise it's ugly head with the Lions. Or than again, our team may just have enough confidence and abilty to blow them out too.

I am very happy with the win

Do you think the coaching staff is saying ok we dont need to improve any?

I stated Tannehill played well.

Just speaking reality. Their pass defense is not strong.

A win is a win.

really, all you can come up with now is typo comments?

Holy.

SamSam it was a GREAT win against the Chargers. I've said that.

Their pass defense is not that good. Lets see where they rank after the season.

Just saying this game against the Lions will show how much the Dolphins have really improved.

Here is an example for you.

This season my baseball team was beating up on teams that we were not sure how good they were. We had a game coming up against a team we KNEW was good. so we were all eager to see how well we did against them to realize how good we really were. We won, we knew we good.

Maybe, maybe not.

I still see the Fins as an inconsistent team, both sides of the ball.

Last week showed what Miami is capable of, both sides of the ball, and special teams. There have been a few games that Miami showed how poorly they can play.

Yes, Detroit "may" show us what kind of team Miami has. If Miami plays well and still loses, then so be it. The key is for Miami to play well.

Miami just has to play consistent ball, and it all starts and ends with RT.

There is still eight games left in the season. He plays well in all of them, Miami has a good shot of coming out ahead, and...it shows that RT can play in this league.

I dont think that is fair and a bit hypocritical of your position.. I agree that you cant put to much into any single victory but that also applies to a loss... Any team can have a great game or poor game on any given sunday... You cant judge a team from week to week... If we beat the Lions on sunday I am not going to be convinced we have arrived... And if we lose I am not going to be convinced the last few weeks or NE game were a fluke...

I think we agree that we need to judge the team as a whole for the season up to any current point, anything else just isnt that accurate... 90 percent of teams go on runs and get flat through out a season.. And many of years that super bowl trophy goes to the team that is hot at the right time more then that 10 percent or 1 Seeds. Right now we are on a run, lets hope we can keep it going...

Crowder I'll give you that, but 2 wins in a row against quality teams sure start pointing in the direction of the Dolphins being pretty good.

The best teams win the majority of their games and dont go on good and bad streaks during the season, unless of course a run of good to the end.

Captkoi I agree with you when you say "Miami just has to play consistent ball, and it all starts and ends with RT. "

Dolphins have been inconsistent but to expand that even further....

They have also been getting better every week since the KC loss. That is the part that gives me hope.

The defense has been extraordinary and getting better each week.

Tannehill AND the entire passing offense has been inconsistent BUT now they are building confidence which can only be a good thing.

RT started his ascension week 3 vs the Raiders after starting the season fairly decent vs the Pats. Some would say "yeah but it is a bad defense". They (Oak) actually have the 16th ranked defense in yards. That better than AZ, Colts, Saints, Bengals

The next week vs GB, the passing game sucked until the second half when they did enough for the win. Unfortunately this one got away from the defense on only a few plays. Sort of a freak thing.

Following week he was very good again vs the Bears...

You can see a pattern here of learning and getting more comfortable in the new offense. Not just RT but the entire offense.

The next game vs the Jags the offense sputtered again. Once again this was from a good group in the middle of the Jags defense.

Now comes the massacre vs Oakland. This is where, for the first time it all came together. Huge confidence builder. It showed the players that they can buy into the offense as well as Kevin Coyle and the defense.

The big misconception out there is that a good Qb puts up a 100+ Qb rating week in and week out. Well, Marino didn't do it. His QBR's were all over the place.

Andrew Luck QBR's over the first 6 weeks....83, 89, 140, 123, 72, 97

Aaron Rodgers....81, 109, 88, 151, 138, 99

Tom Brady...69, 109, 91, 59, 110, 139

We are still going to have good games and bad games but now our good is better than it has ever been. That means we can compete with anyone.

I'll give you all that JDKF, but havent you also seen all that in the past 2 seasons with RT starting?

I do feel like this season is feeling different, but I do remember a point last year where I felt like Tannehill had gotten it then the end of the season happened proving otherwise.

Yes, the players have been inconsistent but that is in the nature of players. It depends on who they are playing against. Offensive linemen can beat some great defensive linemen but are not a natural match against lesser. The same for defensive linemen, LBs versus TEs and corners versus receivers.

But folks, if we are talking wins vs. losses, kickers and punters, blocks aside, blocks aside, blocks aside, stand on their own.

And lastly, coaching decisions stand on their own and there is NO aside whatsoever.

That is why to me to lose a game because of a coaching decision is utterly inexcusable.

Chreyn I hear you and i agree the timeouts were HORRIBLE, but did you read where he had done the same thing in other games and it worked out fine?

Personally I still feel it was and is horrible.

For it to be "did the same thing," we had to be ahead by 3 or less (we were I believe ahead by 3) and the other team has to be OUT OF TIMEouts, and there has to be THAT THE FIRST TIMEOUT WAS CALLED LEADING BY THREE OR LESS AND THE FIRST TIMEOUT IS CALLED WITH ABOUT 2 minutes and 12 seconds left in the game (12 seconds before the 2 minute warning) AND THE OTHER TEAM HAS TO BE OUT, OUT, OUT OF TIMEOUTS.

Show me that other instance, dolphin.

I'll have to find the article.

I believe it came from Philpin himself when he was defending the timeouts.

It was written in a couple places right after that game.

Again I still think it was dumb, and yes the other team was out of time outs.

It might have been in the Chargers game from last year actually.

Defending a B.S. move like the time outs...no wonder he is your hero. Just like you constantly defend you comments and opinions on Ryan Tannehill and make up the rest.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!
