This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
The Hartline penalty was pure BS.
The rule prohibits "group" celebrations. Hartline did his little golf routine which is much more benign than say, spiking the ball.
The "group" was just standing there watching him. IMHO the official over-reacted.
If the "group" was dancing or chanting it would be a penalty but, I don't believe they were.
Hey.......three other players lined up in unison and all moved their heads together, that's pretty much a GROUP celebration in my book. Either way , here is a Team getting their asses handed to them , and that's what they are worried about? There are college Teams with more maturity. Its stupid and it shows exactly where they are at. That's all a direct result of the leadership.
Who gives a rats ass about Hartlines celebration. Seriously the thread is right I've been calling for Coyles head for two years now finally the own damn players even bitching about him. Can't win with garbage play calling shit playing at QB and a Human Rock as a HC. You really think Drew Brees, Dan Marino, Peyton Manning would put up with these bums? @#$%& no! Neither should we.
"During the second half we finally did something, but that catch by Hartline followed by the "putting" demonstration was damn foolish. It resulted in a penalty that ultimately gave KC good field position and another score."
So, I agree, you stay within the rules and don't risk a penalty. Hartline had to have orchestrated this little presentation as he had an audience watching him "putt."
Damn, maybe I'm a stick in the mud, but if I was HC (god forbid) I'd have made it very clear that humility is the way we act. Celebration can occur at the end of the game that you win. Give me a great player that has poise and humility over clowns that make fools of themselves. That's my position.

Exactly. First off Hartline had no right "celebrating" anything. And the fact that he did it shows how much control Philbin has in this lockeroom.
The lines of a "celebration" are still unclear and undefined. However, any post touchdown activity that includes use of the ball is likely to fit that definition, including golfing it.
I say if you are more mad at a celebration that all the good teams can afford the penalty when certain players do such acts of good wholesome American sweetness, well you need a lot more help of the comprehension department in why our team sucks.

When a player makes a great (catch, run) and it's exciting for the fans, the fans can yell, scream, chant, whistle, sing, whatever to show their enjoyment and pleasure. As for the player, he too can show his happiness for what he did and what his teammates helped him to do but it has to fall short of taunting the other team, players and not be too excessive. What is excessive appears to be in the discretion of the Referee.
The NFL has proscribed a rule that when excessive celebration occurs in the end zone (those not allowed or accepted as okay) the 15-yard penalty is tacked on to the ensuing kickoff.
Unsportsman like conduct came to prominence when Mark Gastineau started with his "sack dances." It was modified to included other creative behavior. This current iteration came into play during the 2005 season after players started using props from the field or brought them on the their person to use if they scored a TD. As players continue to be creative, the rule on what is excessive continues to expand.
When Brian Hartline caught that pass for a TD, I believe it was his first of the season, it broke the ice for him and he was thrilled. However, he intentionally went out of his way to celebrate and had player participants, an audience, who knew what to do, and how. It was an intentional pre-arranged celebration and is probably why it was deemed "excessive."
In my opinion, a HC has to lay down the law on what he expects of his players. Avoiding penalties is fundamental. If Philbin did this, he didn't go far enough in specifying what was okay in the end zone. If he did and Hartline didn't abide by his rule, there's a bigger problem.
It's not like the 15 yard penalty will make a big difference. Maybe before the fact they moved the kick off up. However if 15 yards on a kick off in the new designed shorter kick off set up really affects the game then your team is not making playoffs!

I had a suspicion back when TannyDM starting appearing on this board that it was Dopin, aka Dopin1. He appeared shortly after Dopin starting getting a lot of heat for constantly talking trash about RT and posting as dopin1.
What better way to throw someone off your scent than to claim to be "Pro'Tannehill" with a handle like TannyDAMAn? That is if your a 6th grader trying to pull a fast one.

I no longer think he's dolphin.
Let me ask you a question, TannyDaMan, how's your Black uncle by marriage? Does he still think you are a piece of crap?

I really do not know what you are babbling on about but from the text I am reading you sound like a person with too much time on your hands and not enough friends/family to go out and enjoy life with.
I have no idea where this thread went.......But I have no doubt we have a serious double triple poster problem here. 1 or two people really have some serious issues and don't get out much.
Tell you right now.....Chyrene is not one of those people with a problem. Many here don't, just a select few and I wish the Ownership here get down to the bottom of it . Oh well at least they didn't change the logo to something lame.

You are not a very bright person are you? It has nothing to do with the penalty or the 15 yds or how it affected the game you dolt.
The fact is that Philbin does not have the mens respect. Hartline did it because he knows he won't be held accountable. Just another example of a lack of leadership and his lack of any controland inability to motivate.
