The # 22 pick in the 1st plus a 5th rounder for the #3 overall pick (who cost us the 12 and a 2d round pick)? In what way is this a good move? This is the kind of "sell low" crap we've been doing for years---see Vonta, B Marshall, etc. If we make this deal I will be beyond pissed and so should you be.

True, but this is a deeper draft than 2013. With the first rnd picks we could pick up 2 players who are rated higher than Jordan was coming out of OR. Say we picked up Martin and Ebron that would be better than having a 3rd DE imho.
Hell yeah. We never should have made that pick in the first place. He hardly played. On Olineman would have put us in the playoffs. Actually 2 O lineman because we gave up a 1st and a 2nd.
Suck it up, take the extra 1st and a 5th? In this draft a Good lineman can be found in the 5th. Not yes, HELL yes. Jordan is probably going to be a good player one day. But so are some of the QB's in this draft. We are not going to pick one because we have a solid QB. Same goes for DE. Jordan is a Luxury.

Exactly.
If you are going to trade Jordan you do it only if someone overvalues him and gives you more than what he cost you to acquire.
I think Jordan will be a Pro Bowler, but he needs to settle on a position (OLB, DE) and he needs playing time!! I think he could be a fantastic 4-3 OLB, but he was projected as a 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB when drafted, so the coaching staff is struggling with changing his projected position. I remember Odrick trying to play a 4-3 DE. It took a whole season for the coaching staff to finally realize he's a DT, not a DE, in a 4-3.

To the each his own but he was drafted with the knowledge he needs to and 15-20 lbs to play DE. That wasn't going to happen during camp or his first year.
Add to that the fact that he missed all ota's because his school didn't graduate until June AND he had three guys ahead of him... Two of which played at a pro bowl level.... And it's shortsighted to get worked up over his perceived lack of production.
When he replaces wake in two years and makes the pro bowl there will be a lot of crow to be eaten around these parts.

Then trade wake.
You'll be selling high on him and get more, he's older, and he'd free up more cap space.
In 1080p retrospect we should have traded out of our picks last draft (yea, ALL of them) and bundled a boatload of rascals this here draft (knowing Phlimflam wasn't going to play rooks and Ireland was going to waste a heap of draft ammo as his final punk-ass blunder).
I think. I predicted. Something like this. About a year ago. But then. Again. It seems to keep happening. Over. And over again -- like some perverted groundhog day better termed as the Scorched Dolphin Policy (STP) or curse of '72 what

Jordan is on the team. If the coaches use him correctly, he will not be considered a luxury.
The only way I would trade him is if it was with a team that picks in the top 10.
Some posters have mentioned trading Wake while he can still bring some value.
Which would you guys rather do...trade Jordan or Wake?

Maybe, maybe not. Based on what the coaches did (or didn't do) with him last season, yeah, it was not worth trading up for. Hard to make an impact when the coaching staff doesn't put a guy on the field for any length of time to justify their trading up to get him.
If the coaches utilize him a lot this season, then we will know if he was a wasted pick or not.
I have a feeling, because Philbin's job is (possibly) on the line, that we will be seeing a lot of Jordan this year, unless he gets injured, of course.

Whether it be Thigpen or Dion Sims or Dion Jordan, it seems we are saying this time and time again.
If we think Jordan is a bust and not going to develop as we want then yes trade him, if we still don't know, then unless someone wants to significantly over pay for him, you keep him and develop him... The guy has tremendous raw talent... We all knew with his size, shoulder surgery, school delaying camp, competition he played in college, inability to heavy lift anything to do with his shoulder for quite a while, last year was going to be a less then impressive year for him... I am not disappointed in the kid... I expected last year...
If Jordan is lifting hard, putting on strength/muscle, while learning the system better, he could be a stud this year... Also he was a great guy to have cover those big TE's like Gronk, Gates, etc... Other then Grimes, watching Jordan cover those guys was one of the most impressive things I saw all year from our defense...

I hope people are right about Jordan's future potential, I'd really would like to see it. Especially after having to move up to get him at #3. Good point about the coaching, too. I guess I'm a bit impatient sometimes. Or maybe just frustrated...as usual.

here is the deal. he COULD be a stud. He could also be really ordinary. NOW is the time to guarantee some trade value because he hardly played. He plays this year and sucks kiss it all good bye and welcome to late round draft pick time. Ireland picked him! What does that tell you? I'd rather get some value back now and put it behind us .
