Despite bulking up, he doesn't appear to show anything special at all as a DE. If he was a 4th, 5th or lower pick that would be easier to swallow, but his 1st round selection makes him a business decision bust. Perhaps, he should compete strictly for a LB position. And, I agree if he can't "hack it there" trade him for a 2015 draft pick.

just another jeff Ireland blunder.

speaking of Ireland blunders I can't see Wheeler making the final roster.

I don't give much credence to a fan opinion of how Fede outperformed Jordan. A few questions I would have are....

1. How many snaps did Jordan play compared to Fede.
2. Was Jordan playing against 1st string and was Fede playing against 3rd and 4th string?

I like the idea of replacing Wheeler with Jordan just to get him on the field and get rid of Wheeler but one preseason game with limited snaps tells us almost nothing.

Dion Jordan move to LB could prove to be a genious move. You need to have your best players on the field.

They could play him like they used to play Jason taylor.

He might be just another fan, but it's th ed same exact thing I've been saying since Jan.AND 300 other fans who read the poll agreed. He is not a good DE in the NFL so far.his talents were covering tight ends like Gronkowski, playing the middle.I'm not saying I told you so.......b u t he needs to fill some holes. No holes at DE. He needs to play linebacker if we are going to be successful and get the value out of him we spent.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

The fans voted because they know it's the only way to get our best players on the field at the same time and because Wheeler sucks. Not necessarily because Jordan cannot play DE.

Your right. The player we spent a 1st rounder and a 2nd on just can't play as good as who we have , including a Rookie.confused smiley. And now that he has been suspended and shown up some , can't even be traded. We are stuck we him now , so he needs to be switched to a linebacker , an actual area of need and he needs to Excell at it.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

You are at the point where you are beginning to sound like dolphin when he rants nonsensically about Tannehill.

I guess I just don't understand the worry about something that happened 16 months ago. Who/what exactly are you upset about/with? Dion Jordan or Jeff Ireland? If your mad that we drafted him then it's just sour grapes. Ireland is gone. If you think Jordan is a flop then I would have to say that opinion is a bit premature.

You also say if he can't hack it at linebacker then we should trade him in 2015??? In that scenario, who would give anything for him?

That's sort of my point. This is the time for training and learning. Let's not read too much into "not great" performances after 1 PS game. The coaches also usually agree to not blitze or run stunts in PS.

Lets put it this way.......if you knew what you know now, would you still be so pumped about the move to jump up and grab him wasting 2 high picks in the process?

I knew it then and its slowly coming home to haunt us. Thankfully as a fan we seem to have others stepping up into other positions like Fede at DE and host of others on the Oline. So the positions got filled anyway. Thankfully.

My only gripe now is we have a huge hole in the middle and if this kid is the Phenom athlete you claim (freak is the exact term I believe) then he needs to be given a shot at linebacker.

What pisses me off the most is even after Irlend left , we were given a few chances to unload Jordon and correct some of the problem and get some of the value back. And we didn't.

I buy and sell guitars all the time. Sometimes I get burned , most of the time I make some $$. But I know when to let go of a bad investment and recoup some if any of it back. Now if he doesn't work out at linebacker......AFTER his suspension , I don't see what else his future is? Special teams? because the DE spot is Filled. And he is not showing he can crack the line up.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

What exactly do we know now?

When he was drafted we knew he needed to add 20lbs to play DE and that was going to take a year or two since he had a shoulder injury coming in.

What we know now is that he's been our best DE all spring.

How many 265-270 lb linebackers are there in the league?

If you want him to play LB then he has to lose the weight he just added to play DE. Flush ANOTHER year if you go in that direction.

The DE spot is filled?

With what? An aging star, a rising 3rd year play, an undrafted fa whose "breakout" year last year netted 2 sacks and a 7th round draft pick from the smallest of small schools who is a project at best.

You are way to quick to write off Jordan as a bust. Especially in light of the jump Vernon made in year 2 and the development we've seen this off season from the rest of that draft class.

And you are even faster in anointing Fede as a contributor. He had a nice debut against 2nd and 3rd stringers, but either you are drinking the kool-aid on this kid or you are pumping him up because it makes it easier to argue for turning Jordan into an OLB.

I'm guessing that it's the latter.

I was never all that pumped. I wanted Lane Johnson as I was never sold on J-mart as a tackle. it's in the past now. We have him.

LOL. You knew it then? I would argue that no one even knows right now. As they all say, you cannot grade a draft before the 2nd year is up. Some say 3rd year.

I don't disagree but for some reason this staff is stubborn when it comes to the LB's. I think if Von Miller can do it, so can Jordan. Only I would put Jordan on the opposite side at WLB so he can be a run and chase/cover guy as well.

The problem lies among those in charge for failing to address the LB spot outside of a 4th round pick. I don't blame Jordan for that or for getting drafted at #3 when he was injured.

Mngmt weighed the options and decided it wasn't a good value. Hickey has done a good job so far so I will give him the benefit of the doubt regarding that assessment.

Again, it's only the first preseason game and none of the starting unit played well on defense. If anything, (and I am not condoning this) we would be showcasing him for a trade this preseason but that's not happening. I don't think you can say he hasn't shown enough to crack the lineup. His needs these PS snaps to hone his craft. He was injured and didn't receive them last year. We know he can play LB because he did it last year. He needs the snaps as a DE. Vernon did not even play and we have no idea what type of year he will have.

Everyone always gets so carried away with sack numbers. There is more to DE than that. Some would argue that Vernon, although he had 11 sacks, was not close to a complete DE. He was not good at all vs the run (our defense's weak point) and not as productive as a pass rusher as you would like considering he played the 9th highest number of snaps at DE in the league.

Don't you think he had something to do with the decline of our rush defense?

Who knows how Vernon would be as the #1 pass rusher when he doesn't have Wake on the other end. Especially since he plays the WDE spot. Shelby and Fede are better suited to the strong side but we may be in need of weak side pass rushers. That is DJ's future IMO.

JT didn't have 10+ sacks until his 4th year. Doesn't matter that he was a 3rd round pick or 3rd overall. The money has been spent. Investment made.

I don't recall you ever saying he should play LB.
I totally agree he should never have been drafted, at least not moved up for, and he was injured!

I'm all for moving him to LBr.

If that doesn't convince you that Jordan should be playing DE TCPF, then nothing will.

I tink I is going to regress my anterior statement of Jordan Playing LB.

Hey Dolphin. That was before I found out he was inured and damaged goods.when I get home I'll find the plethora of posts I made since Jan.everyone here has seen them.

Here is my question to you. Why haven't you commented on Tannehill's debut in the Falcons 6 for 6. Nice touchdown. .

WR is the deepest position on this team but that is besides the point. We aren't talking about today. We are talking about where our roster was in April of 2013.

Then we had a 30 year old Cam Wake, a raw rookie in Olivier Vernon and a Rookies UDFA in Shelby.

If you think that's the "deepest" position on the team you are kidding yourself.
