Very good point JSM08. The sloppy play of our defense made him look better than he really is. We get one of those int's or knock down the TD into double coverage and the Colts have a loss and everyone is talking about how Tannehill outplayed Luck.

The problem, Jonathan, is that it is extremely difficult to get great LTs (or even good ones) in this league. Long has the talent, but something is going on with him.
So, what does Miami do next year -- let him go or resign him to a new contract. He would be foolish to ask for an even bigger contract than he already has, but his agent is the one running the show.
If Long is willing to sign a fair contract, then I say keep him and work on shoring up other needed positions.

I agree Cap...it is hard to find elite LT's.
Weird thing is, if you look at the starting LT's on the last 10 Super Bowl winners...only one was a first round pick (Tarik Glenn)...and only one was really elite for any length off time (Matt Light).
Seems that as the game evolves away from ground and pound towards spread formations with mobile QB's and quick read offenses the bookend LT isn't as important or worthy of a major cap commitment.
