Agreed, we do have a lot going for us going forward roster wise...don't think we've reached our zenith however.

As much as I dislike Ross for his love to be accepted, and be one of the Rich and Famous. I think he has nothing in common with the common fan , the blue collar Football fan. He is ritzy , Billionaire, fancy to the core. Something owners in Pittsburg , and other blue color cities don't. But he's not painfully arrogant like Ireland was. I was there when JT retired . I moved down to the 50 YD line to listen to the speech with my boys. I saw the pained look on Ross's face when he was booed. It bothered him. He wants to be loved , accepted. He wants a winner here. The Guy cares , I'm sure of it. Ireland didn't give a shit who hated him or what anyone thought. Its not the reason he's gone , He's gone because we had the worst Oline in the history of the NFL and he did nothing about it. BUT.......that said , he didn't do that bad a job and this team has been in much much worse shape under different coaches/GM's. He was cheap and that helps us in the long run.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Our offense lacked imagination. Pure and simple. Too predictable. Get a OC that is not afraid to take some chances and use RT's strengths we will be a much better team. We have a good core or players. Shore up the OL and maybe add another wr and we should do well.

Yeah? That's why we "mutually agreed to separate with the GM" .confused smiley

Anything after that is just Loser beat reporters looking for an angle to sell a piece . None of it is confirmed or fact.

FACT is we sit well with good cap space , great young talent and a Top Ten YOUNG QB. That's reason to be optimistic. We get some new figure heads with a few connections , we have a decent draft , we can be at the Top of The AFC East with the right direction next season without rebuilding. OPTIMISTIC. That's reason to believe. Never said it was a slam dunk, but we could be much worse off.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

It doesn't seem to be that difficult of a problem to fix. Actually it seemed that way last year but Ireland screwed the pooch and made a good situation worse.

The only downside I see at this point is the situation at LB'er. We are kind of stuck there and we need strong play to get back to normal.

If we cut Wheeler after June 1st, we can spread his dead space over two years. That would be a 5.3 mil cap hit for the next two years.

The smart thing to do would be to bring in LEGIT competition through the draft or FA. Even if they are backups, they would offer more value than paying them to play for another team. Put them on ST's if they lose their jobs.

Ellerbe would be a 5.8 cap hit for two years. He counts 7.4 mil this year. Wheeler counts 6.4 mil in 2014.

Hopefully the new GM and Aponte can get creative to work around this....renegotiate contracts, trades, etc.

Then we have to make a decision at....

CB, FS, DT, LT, LG, RG, RT, TE, RB

Lots of jobs to fill but we have lots of cap space.

we got two LB's to play a style of defense they don't know how to play, that was a mistake.

I read that 6 of the 10 first and second round picks Ireland made are no longer with the team. That is pretty bad stuff.

It's actually 7 out of 14 but 6 were in the first two years when Parcels was here.

And it's not they they were all bad players.

2008

Jake Long
Phillip Merling
Chad Henne

2009

Vontae
Sean Smith
Pat White

2010

Jared Odrick
Koa Misi

2011

Mike Pouncey
Daniel Thomas

2012

Ryan Tannehill
Jonathan Martin

That's about 3 flops out of the 14. The rest are pretty solid or decent.

These are probably the good points of Irelands tenure.

Long can't stay healthy. Is merling in the league? Henne is only starting because he plays for the Jags.

Didn't see much of smith but they sure got torched once they started playing real teams.

Vontae will be a FA and the Colts will probably let him walk.

Nothing needs to be said about Pat White

Nothing special. I can't see us having to resign these guys.

Our only good lineman. Thomas is dime a dozen and we traded up for him. Waste of a pick. You can get his type in the 5-7th rounds.

Martin is a woman. Tanny will be his only worthwhile pick.

I agree. Not all are bad players but they should be the core of this team.

I agree with your last paragraph, Treasure, but what I am speaking of is the mess that is going on in the FO, backstabbing, power hungry, etc. If your "leaders" are a mess, how the hell can one run a football team?

In the past, it was "rumored" that FAs didn't want to go to Miami. Do you think they would want to now go there with this mess going on?

you realize a blog is an opinion piece?

To be fair , a lot of the goings on in the Miami FO is all speculation. But I have no doubt there are some power hungry blood suckers up there. There always is around a billionaire. Just like the little fish that hang on to the biggest sharks always looking for a free bite. But how should the front office affect football?

Think there are no other power hungry douchebags around the NFL?There are 32 teams filled with them. How does that affect what the play is called on a 4th and 1? How the Oline performs? How Ryan Tanihill checks off a play ? IT DOESN"T. Its just off season crap from a beat writer trying to create an issue so you read it thinking he knows something you don't.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

All I'm saying is where there's smoke, there's fire.

I can almost guarantee he didn't just pull this story out of his ass.

Jeff Darlington?@JeffDarlington2h
Strange how, as Bucs & Dolphins chase same GM candidates, Dolphins' job is being spun as less attractive when Lovie Smith has all the power.

Jeff Darlington?@JeffDarlington1h
Let me get this right: Dolphins' job is bad because of politics/power, but in Tampa, where Lovie is unquestionably the man, it's all peachy?

With the local beat writers and "the sky is falling" fan base like Miami has, does anyone wonder why the national media treats Miami like a red headed step child? (no offense to any red headed step children on this board)

The local media beat writers have well established sources within the organization and among the players and as such clearly have a better feel for what's going on than the national actors, with very few exceptions.
If the Davie offices have a three ring circus feel to it with the Flintstone yabadadoo music playing in the background it can be directly attributed to the way Ross has mismanaged a business that he is clearly not familiar with.

Yeah because agents and such would never "leak" info to paint a picture a certain way.......

The big wigs are big wigs for a reason. Crappy local beat writers are stuck in a dead end industry and making no money. newspaper is dead. Armanda and Omar are hacks. might as well consult your "local" bleacher report.
