Hello all, just want some of your opinions on Thomas. I personally think the guy is horrible. I havent seen anything that makes me believe he will be any good. What is up with the concussions? Hell is he that fragile? maybe its time to get one of those monster helmets with all the air in it?
I really haven't focused on his play...it's been sparse. What I guess is happening to him is that his running style leaves him prone to getting his "bell rung." I haven't recorded any games this season to review over and over, so this is pure speculation on my part.
At some point, a decision will be made to keep, trade or cut him.

If there was any running back likely to promote concussions or get one himself it was Larry Czonka (39). Larry is a big-boned, rugged guy and punished defenders as a RB/FB.
I don't think he is as bad as most make him out to be but I would rather have a few players taken after him. In hindsight we don't really need him with the addition of Miller and Thigpen. Maybe Ireland should have went with Kansas over K-State...
If we were going ot trade up for someone @ 62....
Justin Houston DE KC (pick 70) has 6 sacks on the year (from Kansas)
DeMArco Murray (pick 71)
Steven Ridley (73)
Randall Cobb (64)
Had we stayed and not given up 79 & 146 & 216....
Sam Acho 103
Roy Helu 105
Instead of Edmond Gates at 111...
Kendal Hunter 115
I would much rather have Justin Houston and Kendal Hunter right now.
I liked Thomas in college and was happy when we picked him. Now I am wondering how he fits in the new O. I see Clay struggling and have to wonder how much is the new O. The guy gets concussions he cannot help that. Maybe he has some trade value so we should still try to ge him the ball. The guy plays and practice hard no need for the name calling fragile, scrub. These guys bust their asses I hate it when the 'fans' shit on them. I really would like to see them go to a Phins practice and say it to a players face instead of bringing it here.
"Also i stand with what i said, we do not need no scrubs on this team. "
as do I Sammie Smith was a coke headed loser from FSU. As far as I know DT shows up ready to practice and PLay. Some Phins Fan sh*t on the players more so than fans in the nfl areas I have lived in in the NE and that's from Redskin to Patriots territory.
I honestly think we missed him last Sunday in some short yardage situatuions, he's not horrible as some suggest, he's just not doing anything special right now. My memory is a little hazy, but did we have Reggie when we drafted him? (I don't think so), he also fit the last coaching staffs game plan of a little more ground and pound, he's a good change of pace back from Bush/Miller and could blossom as a short yardage specialist. Not sure that skill set is worthy of his draft position, but he's not as bad as some make him out to be.
mizzou, i would have no problem telling him to his face. Make no mistake about that. I dont care how freakin hard he practices, its his damn job to practice hard. I once met eric lindros and told him he was the biggest pu#$% i ever saw. so be it. Im not calling him names i just simply asked if he is that fragile, and if he is he should be wearing a better helmet.
I think Thomas is OK. I think his problem is our blocking because he needs bigger more defined holes to run through and his lack of quickness in his first four steps. He is also lacking elite lateral movement ability and has trouble turning the corner due a lack of top speed and acceleration.
These things mean he can't shift holes at the last minute and has trouble breaking away for a few more yards once past the line. This results in alot of 3 yard runs. He just dosen't fit our current more finnesed style of play. He'd have been more sucessful IMHO behind a large overpowering O-line.
He has a place on this team...I just don't think it'll be as an everydown back.
I really hope they use one of our Top 3 picks next year on a PowerBack. I miss Ricky Williams. Thomas is a bust. Bush is going to want mega $$$ and Miller hasn't shown anything .

It makes very little sense to spend, say, a 1st rounder on a RB anymore. In fact, a number of the successful RBs in the league were drafted low or undrafted altogether.
I think we should try to do what we can to keep Bush...within reason. Miller can run..but he MUST improve his blocking. And, yes, Thomas is looking like a bust. Kind makes me wish we would have kept Lex Hilliard.

Very true. I don't see this regime as too timid to cut someone loose based on lack of performance. They must like what they see from him or he would have been running with the 3rd team instead of the 2nd.

Thomas was a waste of a second round pick. Thank you Ireland.
I still like what I see from this kid. He was running hard today. He hits the hole much faster than Bush with no dancing. He is going to be a nice RB.
I was very impressed with him today. Even though he had only 60 yards, it was on 9 carries. 6.6 yards per carry and a TD against the 11th ranked rushing defense.

He also had one HUGE 18 yard reception on that past drive.
He had a good game.
Like I said in another thread...most everyone had a good game.
Game balls today go to Bess and the O-line.
Bess was terrific and the o-line played its best game in a month or more.
My youngest son (27) plays Madden NFL 2013. He laughs about the Dolphins players not performing on the field when he gets them to do wonders for him on the Xbox. He showed me that Daniel Thomas was running for nearly 100 yds per game for him, catching passes, along with TE/FB Charles Clay.
Now I know this in no multi-million dollar simulator like what is used to train AF pilots. The inputted information on the Xbox doesn't equal the inputs on the big simulators, but I have to wonder, is my kid that good on the stick, or is there a measure of potential existing with these real players that we're not seeing yet. Speculative at best, but as a Dolphins fan, it sure makes me wonder.
My son watches some games with me, and has repeatedly voiced his concern that Clay is a good player and needs to be paired up with Fasano. Thomas also has strength in his hard hitting running. So....we shall see, perhaps Coach Philbin should get an XBox and spend some time there...maybe he can better utilize these guys for more production after some gaming. That applies to Mike Sherman too. My kid has Tannehill rolling out and connecting with Fasano or Bess all the time. He does have one player not on the regular Dolphins team--Danny Amendola--and that combination of WRs, Bess, Hartline and Amendola really shines for him.
