If........

No one knows what is going to come out of the NFL investigation of the Dolphins, but let's just say that Philbin somehow escapes.
Will he release any of his present coaches? Will Ireland be let go? If Ireland does leave, how much power will Philbin have over the draft and FA?
We've been pointing out the things that have gone wrong with this team and presented our ideas of what we think should happen. My (following) thoughts will be based on Philbin remaining with the Fins.
We have complained about Elerbe and Wheeler. If Philbin remains, those two aren't going anywhere, so....maybe with another training camp under their belts, they will become the players the coaching staff thought they would be when they got them.
Philbin is (supposed) to be a former OL coach. I know he isn't stupid, therefore he will have to take a good look at what he presently has and work closely with whomever the GM will be once this season ends. He definitely cannot bring back at least three of them, and what is he going to do with the backups, who evidently aren't any good since he didn't play them until he had no other choice.
He's probably gonna have to keep Wallace and his pay check, but will he put some feelers out there to maybe trade him? That's a hell of a lot of money for what they are not getting on the field.
His DBs are average at best, with Grimes the best of the bunch. Patterson is also good, but he just can't stay healthy. Has to look at what they drafted and maybe change their philosophy when drafting DBs.
Overall, the Fins have enough talent to make some noise, but the coaches have to do a better job of (first) getting the right players and (second) coaching them up.
Next season is going to depend greatly on what happens with this investigation. If this crew sticks around, then they need a lot of work in how they "coach." If it is a whole new crew, then what will Ross be looking for? Can't bring in a whole new philosophy as that means another three or more years for the Fins to be relevant again.
