I think Ricky is right on point and nailed it for the most part... Glad he said what he said...

Yeah, me too. It seems like Martin managed to do something I never thought possible........make Incognito seem sympathetic to his peers.......now the media on the other hand....."If it bleeds it leads"

it is annoying that the media (local and national) operate from the unquestioned premise that Martin is entirely blameless and Incog is a straight up evil racist. No one seems to be questioning why Martin never stuck up for himself, complained to anyone, and then quit on his team, then threw everyone under the bus by releasing this supposedly horrible vm that he retained and was left in April but he never said anything about, meanwhile he is on paid leave while Incog's career is likely ruined if not seriously damages.

And equally annoying is how the media seems to be assuming that the type of stuff that goes on in an nfl locker room is on a par with the kind of stuff that goes on in an office or school. I mean, every training camp, there are huge brawls on the practice field between teammates, punches thrown, etc. This is covered with amusement and rightly no one thinks these co-workers should be fired or brought up on assault charges. But if in an office two co-workers did that they'd be fired and the cops probably called. Obviously what goes on in the nfl locker room and field does not equate to what goes on in the rest of the work world. So why is everyone in the media seemingly oblivious to this when the issue is verbal and not physical abuse?

Funny thing is, Ive heard atleast over 30 players speak on this and the only players who have blamed Richie are two guys who had direct confrontations with Richie in the past.

Literally, 99% of people are in Richie's corner in this situation.

As fans we want tough guys on the field playing for us. It's a tough game and people get hurt.
To a fellow warrior, Richie is the kind of personality that players tend to take up for. By contrast, Martin comes across as "Baby Huey." Big but soft.
The casual observer however, sees how many college teams Richie has been kicked off, how many professional teams have sent him on his way. They see the label, "Dirtiest player in the NFL."
Some of them might even have been victims of bullying in their childhood.
As I wrote in another thread, the decision of who goes will be decided by appearances and not by what fellow players think.

This isn't exactly Guantanamo folks. As much as we like to glamorize this sport and all it's machismo, it's not exactly protecting us from commies. It doesn't mean you can act any way you want just because you are the favorite tough guy wearing aqua and orange and a full sleeve.

Ricky hits it! This team lacks leadership and unfortunately, the coaches dropped the ball. Incognito was called on for leadership and he abused it. Nobody drew the line, and I put a large blame on Martin for not manning up or going to his coaches. Weak, very weak! Doesn't belong in an NFL locker room!

I like what Mark said on ESPN today: Icognito was to light a fire under Martin and he brought a flamethrower to do it.

LOL. Cap, what judgement does it show to have my own beloved ole "ankle-biter" be the one to toughen someone up.

Even I would see that he might go too far.

Ricky Williams has an interesting perspective. He's really talking about the guys being his family...what is said is meant to rile, to energize, to invigorate and then to act together, in unison, like a well oiled machine, to take and bully, beat up and push around the opponent on the field...simply put he equates this ragtag group of team mates, specialists at each position as a "Band of Brothers." You can call your brother in arms all kinds of names, insults, but it's not personal, it's not really a hostile environment as is perceived by many persons on the outside. However, let a trash talking opponent make personal attacks and slurs and the "Band of Brothers" unite against the outsider, the foe, the opponent next Sunday. Interesting take Ricky....very interesting.

Maybe he's right. Maybe Jonathan Martin is too smart, to intellectual, to civilized to be a part of this rough and tumble and often crude culture. Maybe....

If we believe the stories from Hartline that these guys were the best of friends, it appears that it was a friendship gone sour and when the other players walked away from him when he sat down at the table, he saw the team taking sides with his former best friend and therefore he now hates the team.

No bullying. No wussie. Just a friendship gone bad.

You know how bitter that can get when it's between girls, well it's not that much better when it's between guy best pals and if you throw in the NFL and all the comraderie that the coaches tell you to have and multiply it by the fact that Martin's friend just happens to be the team's toughest guys, then Martin leaves.

Rather than being a wuss, Martin really appears to be a guy who is pissed off at his best pal and everyone else is siding with the pal.

And it amazes me how far out of left field you can come. You've obviously been made privy to the facts. Tell us how I am off base.

And BTW, I don't jump to conclusions like you do. If you look at berk, he says his job is represent employers in these discrimination suits, and I don't see HIM jumping to any conclusions. I see him hedging his bets based on lack of information and only saying "if this is true, then that..."

But you on the other hand, are somehow possessed of the true facts and are impatient with anyone who wants to bother to let the facts come out before passing judgement.

My lawyers have advised me not to speak......truth be told though, JC and Curt pulled me aside and asked me to "smarten you up" (their words not mine), in light of recent events, I've decided to back off, please don't make our recent PM's public.
